OK OK The Truth Comes Out.....

I've just read through the 'Slough Outplayed' thread and have come up with the following. (Being as though I'm now NLF admin I can post this in my own thread rather than following on the existing one! wink.gif" border="0 )
Anyway, the following things are fact about the club.
Eagle eyed surfers may have spotted a story appear on Isthmian UnOfficialwebsite about the transfer embargo. This is in force at Slough Town FC at present. This is due to late payment for Gary McCann with Hendon although a spokesperson for the club has said, "Regular talks are in place with Hendon to resolve this issue, and it is expected to be resolved very soon."
The players being paid late. It's almost force of habit for Deaner to be doing this now and is common knowledge. More or less all the players I think have come to expect it, but as Chris B has said, where else will they get anywhere near as good money as they get at Slough?
Everyone is quick to criticise out there, some jump to the defence, but nobody is offering work arounds or solutions. It's common knowledge that the club is 'cash-strapped'. The fact is Deaner's money is for the main part tied up. Some ideas I have are as follows:
Ground collections. Bucket passed amongst the fans at home games for a collection which will be held in an STSA managed bank account. This account is then put forward toward the new ground site as and when it is arranged.
Sponsored penalty shoot out. Penalty shoot out against Mautone/Jackman/Zepherin or against the likes of Ullathorne, Hawthorne, Bartley. Proceeds are split 50/50 between the ground development fund and a charity (i.e. Wexham Park Hospital)
Sponsored walk. Ideally the Aylesbury game would have been an ideal 'short' walk to do for the club. Similar proceed split as stated above.
The club is in the financial sh1t. It's about time if we want it to hang about, we did something about it.

You can't propose solutions until someone admits there is a problem. Last week this forum was denying there was a problem (the embargo and late payment were belittled). Now it turns out that there is a problem. The arguement seems to be they are on so much money, that they don't mind waiting. Might be true, but surely a more sensible way forward would be to live within a budget---that is the way that doesn't threaten the clubs survival.

Well if the club is so cash strapped explain why we have so many players and pay such (so we are led to believe) high wages?
We had all this sort of stuff discussed last year, yet here we are again with no lessons learned. At the start of the season we were struggling to register a full squad of players, yet it didn't take long for the usual cast of thousands to be hanging around and people to be coming and going right, left and centre. Don't say money is being chucked around to make a determined effort for promotion because if it is it's news to me.....
It's just the usual post-Christmas "no money" fiasco....just like last year....
It's just the usual administrative [****!!****]-up's.....just like last year.
We don't learn and why should any of us be expected to come up with solutions for repeated mismanagement? And even if we did - would anyone listen? Not a cat in hell's chance.....

Until the problem was admitted to me the other day, there was no reason to believe it was true? I mean, how can we sign a player (Zepherin from Hampton) if there is an embargo on the club?
As it turns out, this embargo was placed on shortly after that loan agreement was confirmed. Hence, the denial.
More to the point, I think the club needs as much positive press as it can get hold of as ever?
The state of the club is as follows:
1. The fans don't get on amongst themselves. It's ok to have an opinion and voice it, hence why we have boards like this, but to do anything, everyone needs to be pulling in the right direction.
2. The way the club is run is awful - common knowledge. Many proposals have been put forward but little action has been taken. Even individuals starting the ball rolling will help? Does the club not need all the help it can get? When solutions and ideas are put forward, they are dismissed as it seems nobody wants to help the club.
3. On an alternative, some of those who do try to help and do their best to support the club, are turned away. The recent example of this was Nigel turning up early to help with the pitch preparation only to be turned away. Stupid. The same people who are turned away are the same that are continually slagged off by the club in the programme notes for voicing their opinion at games, and any negative comments are automatically blamed on them.
4. It's not a no-cash scenario, it's a late cash scenario as it's always been. The majority of players know what the routine is, and if they weren't happy with it, they had the option to go elsewhere over the summer and didn't. It's now their choice.
5. Large squad? Not really. The squad has now settled down to about 20 players at most which is suitable for the club. Maybe a lot of players have been used, but how many over the last ten games or so? I think it will be no more than 18? (Just a guess, I could be absolutely miles out)
I just want to know why things can't be put in place by donating funds through STSA? Surely the sponsored stuff with the donations would be a good idea? It would be good press for the club, and being as though everyone always moans about bad PR, isn't about time we tried to do something about it? It's something we can do, and right now, the club needs all the help it can get - as always. mad.gif" border="0

I can get along with much of what you've said, and can live with the rest because it doesn'tfit in with the "All is well with the State of DenmarkW waffle.

Fundraising? How about a little bet, with the winning money going to STSA? See the "Slough outplayed thread for details.

Hey Everyone.... good points....
agree with most things....
We at STSA are striving to increase funds ..for the rainy day fund !
Remember STSA have accounts (deposit)
we have a little money in the bank... approx 5000 pounds (as a start) to help....
but remember we need about 200,000 pounds a year to make things happen !
So we must be very serious in getting some money into the funds....
We have also raised approx 10,000 this year in our marketing develpoments and have paid off quite a few bills/invoices for the club.
Before anyone says anything ...This is what STSA is here to do....support our club and try to help

it in any way we can....
does not mean we sit back and let one man do it all....
So yes please to all the ideas and lets get serious in helping our club.
rgds chris sliski

Yep I agree we need to pull together to help save the club but I agree with others in respect of the suspiciously high wages. I also understand that Slough had the biggest budget in the league which is particularly annoying considering our present position. Also I have to ask why did Deaner bother getting involved with the club if his money is tied up elsewhere. Whilst our squad is not big we have an incredibly high turnover of players whcih reeks of mismanagement. The point is are any of our money raising ideas going to be put to good use or will the money only be needed when once again we sit on the vege of extinction. I think the only way to save our selves is complete restructure from the top of the club down. We need to persuade someone with readily available cash that Slough is the place to come and burn it. We need someone possibly a "crony" to stick a boot up the [****!!****] of the council and get something done about our ground. When the next local elections come round why don't we get someone to stand on a platform of Save Slough Town hopefully getting us the necessary good publicity.

Every penny would be put through to the STSA in the fact that they could (and always do) use that money wisely and in the best interests of the club.
By doing the fundraising and donating half to charitable organisations, that would be a very good PR exercise for the club, and could hopefully teach them a lesson in how it's done...

Without revealing my sources I can confirm that the players haven't been paid for 6 weeks up to the last match. But what must be more discouraging is the fact that the chairman has told the players that there are no financial problems and every week they are told they are going to be paid only to be told a few days later that they aren't. If you are expectant every week and then let down it is going to bother you isn't it.

Its about time the reasons come out or the players get paid.

Yes Flock off in deed ...
As it was a "Joke" then if your not happy we can always refund the money....no problem
Also if we are serious then lets get it together

and get some serious cash inputs to the STSA funds and we can set the trust up and run our own football club....
but remember we need the fund raising every year !

not just the one off's (but they are welcome too)

of course....
This year I have written to over 100 companies in Slough and they are just not interested !!!
no even 50 pounds for a ball sponsorship...so I don't know how your going to do it....but please try...
the same last year !
Its bloody tough when you have got nothing to offer in return....

things are wrong in the garden ...but please free to get some money raising venture going ASAP
