lock-in protest at cherrywood road

The following update was issued this morning (Wednesday) by Farnborough Town club secretary Vince Williams:

Farnborough Town Chairman Tony Theo, staff, voluntary workers and supporters remain locked in at Farnborough Town’s Cherrywood Road ground.

Persons have been camped in at the ground since Monday as a protest against alleged new owners taking control of the club. The club are delighted that the 100% support for Tony Theo remains.

The dramatic actions started when Ron Higgins and Tony Turberville claimed they had taken the majority share holding in the club from former Chairman Vic Searle.

Whilst the club continues to try and operate the team are preparing for Saturday’s Nationwide Conference opening fixture away at Hereford United, meanwhile there are clear indications that club workers will stage a mass walk out and supporters will demonstrate on mass against an alleged take over that is not needed, not wanted and not welcome.

Sky Sports, amongst other media organisations have covered the on going situation whilst a Fans Forum will take place tonight in the clubhouse at 8pm. All welcome.

A period of stability has been thrown into jeopardy, at the same time, never in the club’s history has there been such universal support on one issue.

Having been officially involved with the club for fifteen years and as Secretary I ask you for your support.

Millitant action

So there is an injunction against anyone trying to stop our two buisness friends from entering Cherrywood road to carry on business.

That means that anyone who does so can be arrested and sent to prison. Seems to me that would make a great story. Loyal fan sent to jail for defending the club etc. Would they really try to have 50/60 people sent to gaol? Also as this is a civil action they would have to identify individuals and bring commital procedings against them.

Seems to me if a group wanted to be very militant then the injunction might actaully work against them.
