Squad Numbers

I have a feeling that squad numbers do not apply in conference south.Anyone know?

Guess players still need to be registered though and think deadline is 3pm friday-again does anyone know?

Wonder whether the club will have enough respect for the fans to actually officially indicate who is in the squad?

Lots of unofficial announcements/ interviews /newspaper articles, though oddly i do not see any mention of Bill Edwarsds.Other one missing from the unofficial announcements is Clarke.

Either way and assuming the above do sign, looks like we may have about 14 in the squad, which whilst better than most of us thought about 4 weeks ago, it does seem to leave us woefully short for inevitable suspensions and injuries.

Wonder if Huusain will be goalkeeper backup.

Think we were lucky last year that Smith was fit all season.

[color:"blue"] No squad numbers / names on shirts required in this League.

Agree about some of the gaps in the announcements,no mention of Pat Gradley either who seemed to do well in PSF. Probably Club will make the 'announcement' through the Isle of Thanet Gazette tomorrow or when the teamsheet is read out on Saturday. Thats how we found out about Jonathan Venter & Conrad Whitby at Dorchester last season.

As to the depth of the squad, remember that Saturday is only the end of the first stage of the trials. Players who are still unattached at the beginning of the season will widen their search for a new club - perhaps going down a Division or two to get a job. For the past few seasons we've had try-out friendlies in September to look at such players.

You are absolutely right Peter.

Its frustrating though that except for first conference season we always make a slow start and end up fighting an uphill battle.

I guess it was inevitable this season and iremain grateful there is a squad at all, but still frustrating that we regularly lose early season points against teams we should do better against.

I suspect we are playing 3 0f the weaker sides in first 3 games. We need to be getting max. points before we start playing Grays, Havant, Hornchurch ,weymouth, newport etc. or we will be on back foot again, and lose vital early season support ,impetus and potential funding

And let's not forget to be realistic. We still have a club all be it by the skin of our teeth. I wouldn't be surprised if we looked a little "unfinished" as a team at the start of the season. What we need to do is to turn Homelands into a place where other teams come and expect to pick up nothing, and for that to happen the team needs our support and patience.

Absolutely no argument with the considered views of the last few posters. We need to do our bit on Saturday and get behind the team (whoever the hell they are) and show them that they can count on our support.

I am just grateful that at the start of the season, boys in blue will be running on to the pitch. and off we go.

I think we may have lost sight of how close we have been to this not happening at all.
