Some thoughts on the Uxbridge game...

Have to disagree about Gilkes. Thought for long periods he was anonymous. He wasn't requesting the ball enough and for the last five minutes of the first half, did not want the ball or want to get involved in getting it back. He got better in the second half, and had the full back for his taking, but still could have played a lot better.
Hakki, Barrowcliff, Daly and Bartley were all superb yesterday. The keeper looked assured in everything he did, making two good saves, but his distribution of the ball was spot on. (Mautone please note!)
A good all round performance, the crunch games will be coming up with Stortford, Ford and Bognor to visit and a trip to Aylesbury.

First and foremost, another three points.. that's the important thing. And we cannot complain about the entertainment value at The Park, perhaps we should warn visiting teams to have a Plan C for when they inevitably get reduced to ten or even nine men men hehe
Some pleasing spots from the game - Michael Gilkes, whose performances are really improving and he looks a lot more confident all over the pitch, even just in front of the back four - didn't look panicked and calmly rolled the ball out of danger to Barras and also looked very threatening down the wing, supplying the second goal and tearing past the full back even at his age (64 isn't it, Mr Gilkes? <g> we still love ya)
Also pleasing to see the form of Neville Roach - missing for two games and he comes back looking as hungry as ever. Also, special mention to Anthony Howard - although he looked caught out a coupla times, I think its a good tactic to get Daly to cover across on the right as Howard tears forward, he certainly has an eye for goal and some pace.
Also, Jean-Zepherin.. if Hampton do not want him and we have enuf money, I'd suggest getting him in. Didnt have that much to do yet did his job well when called upon.
Barras and Hakki also excellent again. I thought Hawthorne and Ullathorne drifted out of the game. The ref was one of the better specimens we've sen this season, open to listening to his linesman. I think when Hawthorne got decked in the 2nd half among a cluster of players, although the lino may have seen it, he probably didnt see who lashed his elbow...
So.. 3 goals, 3 points, 3 sendings off.. now, if only we can finish it off with 3rd place...
Michael

Have to disagree with you Gary, I thought Gilkes played very well, every time he got the ball he skinned their number 11 full-back and Gilkes has been playing very well lately.
Apart from Bartley shooting across goal I thought he had quite a quiet game actually and not one of his better days.
Roach, Hakki and Barrowcliff were good as well

I actually thought that when he got the ball and went looking for the ball (Gilkes this is) he looked very dangerous. The problem I had with him on Saturday was that for long periods in the game he chose to be lazy and not present himself or move around to get the ball.
It's this lack of desire which makes me question him being in the side. On his day he is fantastic, but to counter that, how much money is he on? How long can we afford it?
I think if he plays the Maidenhead game in the B&B and they are up for it, we'll see how good he really is.

OK......I have no problems with Gilkes, Bartley etc. but I just don't think that Ullathorne looks interested when he doesn't have the ball. It is too easy to say that he has scored plenty of goals for us. Too often his head goes down and he's not even looking to win the ball back. I feel that the commitment shown by Hakki etc. is not seen from Ullers especially if he plays in midfield when it becomes much more crucial. NOW, WHAT KIND OF MONEY IS HE ON !!!!

Have to say I agree with Chris, thought Gilkes was one of our better players on Saturday and has been over the last couple of months. I wasn't sure about him at first but I think he now has the left midfield slot for himself with CJ (in my opinion) very much off form at the moment. Also, didn't think Bartley was that effective. It was one of his better performances for a while but I wouldn't say he was one of our best players on the day.
