Saturday vs. Charlton Athletic Reserves.

It finished 3-3.

90 degrees+ so we didn't see blinding pace but there was some very good football in parts. Delightful ball control from the visitors.

They had Matt Howard returning from injury, Ibraham Ba, released by Bolton and previously with Milan and their No 10, Jamal Campbell-Ryce impressed.

Wearing yeller&blue was Rushton, Dean Hooper, Zoricich, Seeby and Cousins; Thomas, Jamie Southon, Parker and Spencer Knight; and up front Crawshaw and McBreen. Sarll, Hann, Attwood, Wraight Clarke, Okai and Tom Beech [a triallist striker from Cambridge Utd] came on [in the] second half.

Parker opened the scoring from 40 yards after their keeper muffed a clearance. 1-0 at half-time.

They scored 3 and showed terrific ball skill in a 15 minute period. Then Beech headed home a cross and Clarke scored a volley from close range after a Wraight shot was blocked. 3-3.

Seeby was the sponsors' MotM. McBreen and Hooper wont finish every game they start. Southon looked as if he's done it before. Attwood was sound and Hann had a better game. Knight did nothing wrong. Crawshaw was Crawshaw. Cousins had another good game. It was hot.

The crowd was around 200.

I hear that Sargant, Ayres and Davies have severed their ties with the club.

Well, I enjoyed the game. I thought the heat would produce a plodding, boring game - but I was entertained! Once again (sorry I'm cr@p with names) I thought our new(hopefully he's still with us?) left winger when he came on in the second half was a joy to watch. I understand that probably the players did "step up a gear" to impress the manager for the real start of the season this week, but IF we can play like that in the league games I think we'll be OK. Hopefully we can produce a settled, consistant side soon. Looking forward to tomorrow night now.
