We had to pass through the eye of a lightning storm to get here and there were some doubts as to whether this game would go ahead. The inclement weather did little to spoil the spectacle (or effect the pitch) and, though the home side worked hard throughout and were as persistent as the rain, it was a comfortable victory.

 

After 15 minutes a superb long ball from Damon Searle picked out Charlie Taylor whose shot, in the end, was straight at the keeper. Our first goal came only five minutes later, Taylor slotting home from the spot after a push on Jean-Michel Sigere. Ten minutes later and it was 2-0. Quite spectacularly in fact as Sigere found the corner of the net with an overhead kick after a cross was spooned up in the air by a defender. Sigere made it 3-0 with a minute to go until half-time with a rather unconventional shot after Steven Clark headed a far post cross back across goal.

 

The second half was a display of passing football from us, with Biggleswade struggling to get a foot in, and rarely being allowed to string more than a few passes together at a time. The keeper made a good save with 15 minutes to go when John Martin got clear but he had no chance with the 4th goal in the last few minutes. And it was prepared and executed by two of the U19's, Ryan Doyle and Jeff Shepherd - Shepherd supplying a superb curling cross and Doyle running in to score from close range.

 

The game unfortunately ended on a worrying note, with Clark being carried off on a stretcher after a challenge from behind. Let's hope he recovers quickly.
