Tilburty 1 Town 1 (Abandoned after around 1 hour)

Recommended Posts

Well the first half was pretty evenly matched with Town struggling to cope with Tilbury's pace up front. Chopper got a minor injury in the first quarter of an hour or so and was unable to kick the ball for much of the first half.

Tilbury played very square at the back and Town nearly broke through once or twice (on one occasion the linesman flagged for off side with Dean Nyman clear through and it was an awful decision)

However there were few clear cut chances for either side and they went in at half time 0-0.

Second half was different. Tilbury got a hotly disputed penalty after around ten minutes and this seemed to wake the Town up. From then on I thought we were on top. Riley scored from a low hard cross into the box and again a well taken goal.

Then the lights went out.

An interesting game and Tilbury were certainly the strongest side we have played this season so far. It will be interesting to see how Romford do against them on Saturday.

I leave others to tell the team however a new player came on in the second half (Paul Campbell???) for Snowdon he seemed capable.

Jim said he was going to play squad players and trialists in the Tilbury and Potters Bar games.?

That side looks pretty much 'first team' to me.

Tilbury's picvh is in good nick isn't it - I'm quite looking forward to taking on Eton Manor on that surface.

On another note, weren't the locals the most surly, unwelcoming lot we have encountered for ages? It was almost as though they didn't want us there. Imagine fifty Aveley barmen and you're close....

Tell me about it. When Romford played there last season, I asked him for a bottle of wine and you would have thought I'd asked him to lend me a grand!
