It would be nice if there was a one glance table, on the main web site, that had player information on. Three columns:

1. in
2. out
3. still here

It would help div-heads like me to keep track on these players.

Hi Zag.

Whilst I would agree that there is modest room for improvement in the Media & Communications Division at the Club, I think that it is difficult to 'freeze' a position in the way you have outlined at this stage of the season.

The newspaper says that a player has 'signed'. Well, signed what? A Pre-contract Agreement? A contract? League forms? Craigy Rydeheard was 'signed' in a deafening fanfare of publicity and media hype a few weeks ago and now?

In reality, I suspect that most of the players will be on 'forms' rather than 1 or 2 year contracts and on that basis, there is no security for either side. It's the role of the Manager to keep everyone onside.

More particularly, I suspect that negotiations are continuing with most of the players that we expect to see wearing the yeller&blue this coming season.

Doh! I've just re-read yours, Rob.

Yes. Stabilisation. That would come when Steve Castle could give re-assurance to all the players that he wanted to sign that he had signed and committed his future to the Saints with a two year contract.

I'm sure that it's all going to plan.

I think I've said this before, the fact that there appears to be no fixed team, and that people do not know who is playing from one game to the next is a problem. People used to watching league football like to have an idea about who they watching, have favorites (heros even), where as with St Albans (maybe it's the same at all non-league clubs - I'm not a NL boffin), there's no sense of a St Albans Team or Football player - it just seems to be a rag bag of individuals who happen to turn up. I know it's only pre-season and things might stablize when the real season starts (however, I seem to remember the same problem last season). Alot of the time I dodn't know who the f**k is playing - or anything about them. Maybe's it's me.

Yes, this was the point I was trying to make a few weeks ago, when I pointed out that a glance at the Squad List from the 1999-2000 would show that 8+ players had in excess of 100 appearances for the Saints, and a fair few of them were up in the 200's and 300's.

Clarky, Rizza, Polston, Haworth, Vickers, Muddy etc.

You knew what the team was back then.
