A review!

Party in the park in Oxford and we were both on a mission. Did a whole 70cl’s of vodka and 5 cans of red bull and was smashed. We both got near the front of the 2nd pit and McFly were first on and we danced like loonys to all their songs, at this point we managed to hook up with a couple of teenage girls in Chelsea and Katy from Aylesbury, who basically stayed with us all afternoon and were loving us (at one point their Mum come over to warn us that she was only 15 …. Hehe), we had a load of other teenage girls dance with us as we were centre of attention, we had people taking photos of us and everything, we must of looked so silly. Busted were on pretty early and did 3 songs (but not You Said No or That’s what I go to school for), Girls Aloud were pretty early as well as I was battered I was trying to get to the front to woo Cheryl.

Cheryl looking foxy, as normal. They sang The Show, Sound of the Underground and Jump and were not all for long enough in my opinion. There didn’t seem to be any order, I remember Liz from Atomic Kitten boring me although she did sing Whole again, Mark Owen came on and did a rousing version of 4 minute warning, Blazin Squad were [****!!****] as expected so I spent all my time giving them V signs. Some more teen bands who I hadn’t heard of and can’t really comment on in Javine, Mania, 411 and V, all seemed pretty inoffensive which couldn’t be said for Deepest Blue who were just [****!!****]. Phixx came on and were surprisingly good doing a rousing version of Wild Boys, Rachel Stevens came on and looked foxy but was blatantly miming. By this point we were knackered, all sunburn and still carrying my horn with me (I managed to blow this at every opportunity during the day usually to drown out the crap songs.

A quality day out!

Girls Aloud looked mighty fine (pic from yesterday's show in today's Sun!) and Rach, despite miming, was in terrific form too!

Of course, to some people like EMUFF (is this the name of the Ricay firm?) you can only like pop music if you're either gay, or a teenage girl.

Me? I'm a little less snobbish about the music I like.

I'm not a fan of pop music in general, but I do like pop music of a certain quality, if it's done well.

The previous ten years have, on the whole, been diabolical for British pop music.

Five were dreadful. 911 similarly poor. Boyzone and Westlife lacked balls. Atomic Kitten weren't fit to be in the same room as the Spice Girls. Countless faceless boybands and one-off dance acts filling the charts, and depressing the fk out of me.

But in the last couple of years, groups like Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Busted and McFly have come into the picture, and started making some pretty good 'pop' music.

Excellent day, Thornsy, and a quality laugh!!
