Martyn Deaner had a three hour meeting with the council in which nothing was resolved and a draft joint statement was read out to that effect. It needs to be confirmed by MD before being officially released. Martyn said he wanted to meet the supporters to discuss what was going to happen now and Chris S is trying to arrange this.

We had then arranged a delegation to speak to Cabinet before they took their decision on the feasability study and its effect on Slough Town. The delegation was myself, Alan and Ollie. I initially asked whether it was worthwhile reading my prepared statement in the light of the meeting and whilst this was not answered the consensus amongst those there was that I should.

I then read out the statement which was quite long - ten minutes worth - and I would like to thank BFR, Gary, PJ, Andrew S, Alan, Mike and Chris S for their help - which in my view was largely ignored by the councillors. After I finished and left the chamber they proceeded to ask questions about stuff I had dealt with and would only accept the information when it came from another councillor or officer. Eventually and the item did last longer then it was listed for the motion was passed that the council would continue with the feasibility study but would not be able to guarantee any financial support or help in locating a new ground to the football club.

The study we were told will now be at public cost and will still include "football facilities" although these are unlikely to meet are needs.

This regeration will never take place---the current administration includes 8 or 9 Conservatives who, when it comes to decision time, will not vote for public investment. That is their nature, and for the BLLD group to think otherwise shows how little nouce they have.

I absolutely agree Ted and I think the penny will drop soon enough for Mr. Janik et al. They have campaigned so hard against the football stadium that they will lose the regeneration entirely. The feasibility study will outline the cost to the tax payer which will be prohibitive and the regeneration will not happen. The council will now have used tax payers money to find that out instead of Martyn Deaner's. We must applaud them for that.

What happens if the Thornes get planning permission for Wexham Park - where does that leave Cllr. Stokes argument about having two grounds in Slough if Kennedy park is developed.

With Wexham park removed from the equation and not much chance of Kennedy park happening where else is left?

Cllr Stokes would have no facilities left in Slough for the national game - does that represent the interest of Slough voters and the devlopment of young people?

Martin and the Board,

The statement said some important things from the Trust's point of view and I really think we ought to use it as a public statement of our position. I think it needs to be issued as a Press Release on its own. Do we have a PR firm who can help on that, or do we need to find one? I think if the council is this obdurate then we need to go on the offensive in the Press and let them know we are not going to go away or take no for an answer. We will NOT let them ignore a very reasonable request for help, when they helped cause this mess in the first place.
