At Last!! Some real news! [No 157]

While queuing in the newsagents to collect my copy of 'What's Hot In Indie Rock', I glanced at the back page of the St Albans Observer.

Manager Steve Castle was not happy after Wednesday night's second half performance against Barnet when we 'fell apart' and he left the players in no doubt of what is required of them this season in the dessing room following the game, apparently. He ponders whether 'fitness might be an issue' at this stage of the pre-season.

He has been impressed with Parys Okai and is hopeful that terms can be agreed. He refers to Daniel MacBreen who has also impressed. The many thousands of Saintsfans who read the Observer are warned, however, that 'Macca' may not be available [and then later in the article, 'may not be with us'] at the start of the season as he has a contracual dispute with the club what he was with last season, Universitas Dzftagbukazia FC [sp?] of Romania.

For that reason, 'Macca' was brought off at half-time as Steve needed to have a look at other players in the squad who are definitely available.

There is an appeal to any fan who has an English-Romanian phrase book to bring it to Clarence Park on Friday as the chap who used to drive the red tractor is in negotiation with his counterpart over there. No there isn't. I made that bit up.

It is expected that Millwall F.C. 'may bring several players with first team experience' to t'Park for the PSF on Friday.

Err. That's it.

Well done Claire. We did, indeed, play Barnet on Tuesday evening. You win the prize for spotting the deliberate error.

It was to be a complimentary ticket for a game at t'Park but as it's you, skinnyribs, I'll have to think of something else!

While queuing in the newsagents this morning to collect my copy of 'What's Not good to listen to in the world of MOR', I glanced at page 77 of "The Sun" it exclaims that former Newcastle and West Ham striker Paul Kitson is set to sign for Nationwide South side St.Albans

Is this new news or are the old wires at Retuers a bit slow????

Yep early 30s. Had a load of injury problems when he was at the Hammers so doubt he'll play on a regular basis.
