Friendly - Chelmsford City 3 Hornchurch 0

It may have only been a friendly but I don't suppose many of us would have been expecting this scoreline, especially after the first 20 minutes by which time we could have been 2-0 up. Jean-Michel Sigere found the net in the opening minutes but only after his initial shot from about 6 yards came back to him from the advertising boards behind the goal. On 20 minutes Sigere was perhaps a little unlucky to have a shot cleared off the line. Chelmsford though took the lead on 37 minutes when Bayes failed to hold on to a 20 yard free-kick and Russell Penn followed up to score.

Chelmsford extended their lead 6 minutes into the second half with a superb long range strike from Steve Butterworth which Bayes couldn't even get close to. The home side completed the scoring on 70 minutes when Gary Ansell directed home from 8 yards after a good move. So we paid for not taking early chances and we were definitely off the boil in the second half, but it was great to see Garry Hill giving a couple of youngsters a try out.

All the goals are now available on the website - http://www.hornchurchfc.com/multimedia/videos04.shtml

Line-up:- Bayes, Gooding, J Martin, Southon, Stuart, Harris, Graham, Shipp, Jackson, Sigere, Taylor. Subs:- Shepherd, Koka, Doyle, Williams, Whincup.

There was no bloody trains on C2C this morning anyway!!!!

Billericay is on the Great Eastern Line so if you could have made it to Romford or Stratford you would have been OK.

Quite a good performance by Chelmsford I thought. Went along to look at Chelmsford as they are in our league and was impressed despite the early pressure by your lot in the first half. 2nd goal was brilliant!!! I did think you lacked width in the second half.

On the whole an enjoyable match, I would agree that you were dissapointing but you had several players out injured (so I was told - they were hanging around the burger bar before kick off) and it was only a friendly. Some Chelmsford supporters threatened to leave as, and I quote, "Well, there goes our season".
