Beaconsfield 1 Slough 2

Good to be talking about football matters, however temporarily. Hakki and Carbon scored for Slough in quite an entertaining match. More or less two different sides for both Beaconsfield and Slough with both teams making a number of subs at half time.

Hakki scored first for Slough after Miller had gone close a few times with a tap in, before they equalised on the stroke of half time with a peach of a goal which the keeper stood no chance.

Missed the second goal, so I'm sure someone will fill that in, but Saulsbury and the keeper looked very good as did Gavin Rose in the first half.

Encouraging performance against a side which beat Wycombe recently, but let's hope they get the chance to carry on in the league.

I thought the cross was from Seddal, although I may be wrong.

what was out keeper's name? Which club was he previously with? Where did the ROSE guy come from? How many trialists were there, and what were their names?

Ryan Spencer,Christian Metcalfe, Gavin Rose, Danny Steer

Veli Hakki

Matt Miller, Ian Hodges

Slough 2nd Half:

Michael Parkin

Nick Gyoury, James Saulsbury, Michael Murphy

Josias Carbon, Darron Wilkinson, Glen Harris, Alex Haddow

Sam Shephard

Andy Deaner, Matt Seedal

Very useful first team workout against a Beaconsfield side who not too long ago beat Wycombe.

In truth we dominated the first half. Veli scored our goal when he dummied the keeper to score. Mets hit the bar, Hodgey missed a couple and Matty Miller had a few half chances.

They equalised on the stroke of half-time though when slack play from our midfield not running back gave Adrian Sear the chance to slot the ball into the top corner of the net.

Second half was a lot more even, but a lot scrappier. We probably just about deserved it and Josias Carbon headed into the net from close range.

Probably Danny Steer and Josias Carbon were our best two players with Hodgey and Chopper looking shadows of their former selves (but i'd rather they had bad games durning pre-season!)

Of the new signings the keeper Michael Parkin made some good saves and looks a good prospect, but I still feel we need an experienced and keeper who commands his area.

Thought James Saulsbury looks a possible very good signing - good pace and reads the game well.

Christian Metcalfe has not changed a lot. Battles hard, good player and glad he's back (although why he's taking corner's i'll never know!)

Gavin Rose sprayed some good passes. Not quite sure yet, but did quite well. Sometimes wanted a little too much time on the ball, but did OK.

Sam Shephard was sadly pretty disappointing and did not see a lot of the ball and went missing in my opinion. Lets hope it's a one-off and he can sho his true potential at Maidenhead.

Overall a pretty decent night apart from £6.00 for a friendly £1.00 for car parking and one of Beconsfield's management unning in to get involved with a bit of Handbags with Wilko and a Beaconsfield striker.

According to the NonLeagueDaily site, Michael Parkin transferred from Torquay United to Bedford Town this week. Perhaps he is only trialling or training with us. Or his deal with Bedford was only a trial.

Any news on the midfielder we were rumoured to be snatching from Oxford United reserves, Matt Brandish?

I thought we were excellent first half dominating the game and we should really have gone in 5 or 6 up. Obviously it was brilliant to see Hodgey still with us but the outstanding player on the night was Saulsbury who I felt added an awful lot. His passing and awareness seemed top notch and I think he helped control the game.

We know all about Mets and it was good to see nothing had changed.

Rose was very comfortable on the ball but he did dwell on it at times. However, looked assured and a reasonale addition to the squad.

I thought the keeper did well and had no chance with the goal. I agree with Chris in that I would prefer someone with more experience but he certainly did a job.

All the above posts are fairly accurate and positive, this is good to read. But one observation everyone seems to have missed is the turnout by Slough supporters.

It was excellent. Well done everyone....

Its a show of support like last night that would make Mr Deaner think twice about walkking away.
