[color:"blue"]Heard a rumour at Southwood yesterday (perhaps I shouldn't listen to gossip) that we asked Herne Bay if we could borrow Mullins as we didn't have a 'keeper available for the game. Though he made a couple of good saves in the first half, by the second you could see why he played last season in the Kent League.

There are plenty of good 'keepers in the Conference who will sit on the bench waiting for the first choice man to get injured. Between the sticks is an important enough position to seek out such a man, rather than trawl the lower leagues for somone.

PS It appears that Jonathan Venter played for Carshalton on Saturday in a friendly against Woking.

It would be nice to get a youngish (dare I say) LOCAL LAD. When I arrived at the game on Sunday it looked like an African team warming up. What could they know about local darbies, where was the passion in their play? It was hardly surprising Ramsgate beat us, they had everything to prove as most of them were local lads and would probably give their right arm to play for Margate FC. Even Chelsea has the odd Londoner!

Optimist, that is a pretty unwelcome remark and not acceptable to me at least.

Sure Ramsgate have a lot of local lads, and gave a good account of themselves, but consider which league they are in compared to us. Does JK not play with a passion and has he not shown enduring loyalty, Darren Annon too? Did we not cheer for Siggy, Manny, Che, when they were on the team? Do we not love Rocky for the skill he has brought to the team? Or Darren Watson? And bear in mind that those lads that were trialling, regardless of the colour of their skins, are probably English too. Would we object to Wayne Rooney because 'he's not from around here'? We weren't that bothered when we signed Terry McFlynn.

If we want local derbies with local lads lets go play in the Kent League. Me, I would rather see a team that consisted of the best players we can get, regardless of the colour of their skin or their ethnic origin. East Kent has not shown itself to be a breeding ground for soccer superstars in their hundreds. I wish it were.

And I have to say that I saw plenty of pride and passion in the triallists, and a desire to get on the ball and play it. And if any of them were to have the privilege of donning a blue shirt for the season I am sure they would, like any player on the team, do their utmost for us.

Agree with you 100% margate fan. Though we lost you could see a diferrence in class. I do not care what the colour of a mans skin is, it is his attitude that counts, both in the game and in life in general. As was said the keeper played well enough 1st 1/2 but he had no close pressure, in the 2nd 1/2 it was a diferent story, even mr layed back, i could'nt careless Mitten would be a better bet.

I have confidence in CK to find us a worthy goalie.

As has been said, there must be plenty of second-string goalies out there who, contemplating sitting on the bench for a season waiting for the first choice goalie to get an injury, would probably grab at the chance to come and be ours.
