Today at Dunstable Town

Recommended Posts

Yes Rob. I thought that I heard something along those lines, too.

Not to be confused with the PACE games. Not to be confused with our midweek Yoof which will be played on Wednesday evenings. Not to be confused with The Capital League [Reserves] team which, presumably will be played on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday evenings. Interesting clash with training in there somewhere.

I became too confused at that point and stopped listening.

No wonder we are 'looking at' so many players. It's a good job the pitch can take it.

Back to an earlier point.

I have just checked on the work of fiction known as the Fixtures & Results page thingy of the web-site and I see that the first team were at Erith & Belvedere on Saturday, July 24th and won 5-0. There is no reference to the match at Dunstable Town where the first team drew 2-2.

Was that one a figment of my imagination?

Some potential players!

Paul Fewings has left Kettering Town (doesn't fancy the Conf North so already has a rating), he lives in St.Albans and scored 16 goals last season despite being a forward played out of position, Kettering fans were not happy to see him go.

Taken from the Conference South forum - former aldershot and swindon right back dean hooper has left weymouth saying that traveling from slough was too much for him expect to see him signing for st albans city in next few days as good friends with their manager. - They were also not happy to see him leave

Now I'm no football agent so I'll give these out for free <img src="/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

Any news on Kitson?

Hi Rob.

I've had an idea.

You know that the Manager has withdrawn last season's Reserves from the Essex & Herts Border Combination League and entered a Reserves side in the Capital League? You remember that one of the reasons was that he didn't want the Reserves to play on a Saturday afternoon at the same time as the 1st team? Do you think that you could encourage him to reverse that decision?

Here's the plan.

If the first team, by some mischance or due to diabolical refereeing, were not to achieve the desired objective in securing all three points [you will notice that I avoided use of the 'L' word in there, Rob. Positive spin. Good for troop morale] in a Nationwide South fixture, but at the same time, the Reserves were to win their E&HBC fixture, welllll, the chap who used to drive the red tractor could enter the Reserves result in place of the 1st team result.

That would go some way to assist the prospect of a mid-table finish.

Cook & Roberts went after Fewings when he left some team from Oop t'North, Boston?, but he signed for Chesham for £5000 if rumours are to be believed. He joined Kettering from Chesham, as I recall.

I remember him playimg against us for Chesham, and he was on the bench when we played Kettering last season, I think.

Ah, this is where the Gladwish Land Sales ULTIMATE Book of Non-league Players 2004-5 comes in handy (every 'scarfer' should have one - a snip at £9.99)

Paul Fewings

Signed for Billericay Town in June 2002 from Ryman Premier rivals Chesham United but then returned in March 2003.

Had originally joined Chesham shortly before the start of the 2001/02 season from Boston United.

A strong-running forward, he started his career at Hull City as a 17-year-old YTS and then became their youngest player ever to get a three-year contract.

He then went to Hereford United where he was their top scorer in 1999, including a goal against Leicester City in the FA Cup, before going on to Boston.

Switched to Ryman Premier newcomers Kettering Town in June 2003.

Previous Clubs

Chesham Utd - 6.03, Billericay T, Chesham Utd, Boston Utd, Hereford Utd, Hull C

Last Transfer

From: Chesham United

To: Kettering Town

Date: 26.06.2003

Cost: 0.00

Fewings came in to the team for a few games in the 2002/2003 season but didn't really have any impact as we were poor at the time. He had a couple of spells for us, personally I don't think we ever saw the best of him, Fewings and Andrews should have made a better strike partnership than they did!

Hi Rob.

Reference my earlier message, I have realised that there is a flaw in my scheme to reach mid-table in Conference South. If Weymouth manange to score one more goal against us than we do [avoided the 'L' word again, Rob], their Chairman will eventually notice if we submit a form thingy which says that our XI beat Farnborough XI 3-0.

Plan B. We could put the Reserves result on the Official web-site as if it were the 1st team. Good for P.R. that. We could have a word with that hack who does the reports in the Observer and that first class journalist from the Herts Ad and see if they would substitute the match reports. It might help with the attendances.
