Clacton Town 1 Enfield Town 2

Recommended Posts

It was a lovely afternoon for 215 at the Seasiders and they were melodiously singing in their "Bus Shelter". But the new town were more than a match for them.

We had a minutes silence for a player from Clacton who sadly passed away this week.

Team, Hall, Francis, Negus, Snowden, Hall, Brotherton, Riley, Hall, Smith, Everitt, Wilson subs used Finch, Geragthy, Nyman Campbell, Baldwin Nash and Masala.

In the First half the highlight wasa header off the line following a cracking strike on the turn by Lee Smith which beat the keeper. 0 - 0 at half time.

Second half began with Matty Negus on the goal line with the ball at his feet and he missed. the fans couldnt believe it. I think he was just empathising with David Beckham!

In the second half Masala and Nyman were teaming up well to torment the Clacton defence. In the 70th minute Dean Nyman got his maiden goal for the town in his maiden match. As he struck the ball Jason Geraghty jumped to get out of the way and ball skidded past the keeper. 0 - 1. The lead was short lived as our defence qualities were tested in the 74th minute when Claton clinically buried a header past Chopper.

Town ended with a flurry with aRudi Hall strike bouncing out from the underside of the bar to Johnny Everitt who nailed a ripper into the net. 1 - 2. Scoreline a fair reflection on the play.

Town played some nice football and it was pleasure to watch the game. An encouraging start to the Pre-season Friendlies. Did we miss, Ridout, Quinn, Clarke, Cove - It would appear not but early days yet.

There was an excited and hungry look and feel to the town which I think was lacking last season long may it continue. Well done Jim and the boys.

215 was the official gate.

Campbell is a youngster from the same stable as Graeme Hall (called Two Brewers pub team). I wont build him up too much in case he falls flat on his face but I had heard tell of his ability last year but he was a bit younger then and not quite ready for the seniors.

Anything there for us to worry about in the FA Cup?

They're a decent team, but looked quite predictable. Big centre-Halves who couldn't cope too well with pace (Could just be that we're further into our training than them though!).
Good Luck in the Cup.
