As we have only seen a bit of Smith can you tell us how good he is and whether you think he is good enough to be a regular in the Conference?What are his strengths and weaknesses?

excellent at saving shots and superb bravery but can be suspect with crosses as he drops a few. The biggest problem is his kicking which can be laughable a times. It has cost us goals in the conf. Does command the goal area most of the time.good tranfer for you

From what we've seen so far, his kicking is loads better than our other keeper's!

 

Honestly, he looks the business, I expect him to be first choice.

i could never see a problem with his kicking.

 

Concur an excellent shot stopper and slightly weak on crosses.

Biggest fault is does not command the defence enough.

 

Having sai that, worth 8 points a season to margate(10 really but deduct 2 points for his occasional blunders like allkeepers)

 

Your keeper must be phenominal if he is bette than Smith.

 

Biggest surprise to me is that smith never made it to a league club-he probably will now from Crawley and you will get the fee, which is sadly fairly typical of the way MFC has been run off pitch.

 

If Burtons keeper commands a fee of £60k then Smith is wrth £100k

True he lacks total command of his area and is sometimes reluctant to come for balls that are his. Otherwise you have an outstanding keeper.

Non league is full of good shot stoppers that don't command their area or deal with crosses very well, if they could they would not be non league, harsh but true.

Sometimes a keeper is only as good as his defence.Phil Smith is a good keeper,how good are the Crawley defence.
