4 Players released

BFR

Recommended Posts

Back to football matters, and four more players have been released by the club. Following Paul Barrowcliff, Alan Foster and Freddie Hyatt who have already left the club are Ryan Williams, Lee Riddell, Ravi Braich and Adrian Brown.

I'd like to thank all four of them for the contribution they have made to the club. Willo provided great entertainment from January onwards when he returned to the club and I'm sure we will all miss chanting Crab People at him. Lee Riddell will be some sort of folk hero having scored his only senior goal for us against Maidenhead securing our first victory at York Road in decades. For those of us who went to reserve matches, we will of course remember the two wonder goals he scored at Staines. Rav was always popular among the fans and tried his hardest every time he put on a Slough shirt. I wish him well with his future career. Finally, Adi Brown, captain of the legendary side who lifted the 2002/2003 Doxhill Cup after a stunning victory over Stevenage Boys! Good luck to you all

I know! I look forward to seeing the new players at the friendly on tuesday to see if anybody comes close. Otherwise it will be back to South Park to find another irrelevant song to pin on one of our unsuspecting players.

It came from an episode based upon Queer Eye for a Straight Guy, in which the presenters were trying to turn all males 'Metrosexual' so that the presenters, who were secretly Crab People, could take over the world.

So beware Ryan Williams - he make look like a nice young lad but somewhere inside him is a member of the crab people looking for world domination!

I think Eddie is sensible enough to know that there is no point keeping players on if they are not going to be regularly involved. Towards the end of last season Willo and Riddell were both on the bench rather than in the first team, and if he has got new players in to strengthen the squad then they will move further down the pecking order. It would surely be to the benefit of the players if they can find first team footblal elsewhere

Have to say I'm a little disappointed by the release of Riddell especially having spoken to him on the boat as he seemed to have a real passion for the club. I don't think we ever really saw the best of him in his natural position (which was confirmed to me as a striker) and if he had stayed he would have proved capable backup for Hodges, Seedel and the Milf. Good luck to all four for their careers, Norbert we need someone new to sponsor this season (SPENCER, SPENCER, SPENCER, SPENCER, SPENCER). Any other ideas welcome!!!!! (SPENCER).

It does not totally suprise me, about all of the players released. Willo is not really going to get a look in with Veli, Wilko and now this Shepard and Mets back all playing centre mid.

Adrian is a good lad, but is also going to struggle to get a look in if we have signed this Saulsbury.

Not sure about Lee as he does a job in any position and would have been good to keep.

The keeper thing worries me - I don't really want us to get a young inexperienced keeper which it looks like.

I must say I feel a bit sorry for Willo and Riddell. Both good lads who seemed very committed to the cause. As everyone says we have plenty of cover in centre midfield so no real surprise that someone had to go. Riddell would in my opinion have been a good option for the bench with his apparent versitility. Echo everyone else in wishing them all the best. Hope we never come up against one of Lee's devastating crosses.

The keeper situation does seem a puzzle. Three weeks to go and we are still looking to sort it. Perhaps the Foz was released too soon? Anyway we know Eddie and Mickey have connections and I am sure siomeone suitable will turn up. If not we will always have the option of the experienced hands of Alan Judge.
