Could this have been the same Shelbourne side which battled their way through to the 2nd Qualifying round of the Champions League the night before ? Well actually, no it wasn't - same club, slightly younger side but just as enthusiastic.

 

We made a great start, scoring within the first couple of minutes when Jean-Michel Sigere struck a loose ball in off the post from 6 yards. We increased our lead on 37 minutes, Danny Shipp winning the ball in midfield and sending in a perfect pass through the heart of the defence for Sigere to slot past the keeper. It was 3-0 barely a minute later and this goal on its own was worth the trip over. Scott Gooding sent a superbly flighted ball forward from defence for Charlie Taylor who flicked the ball over a defender and shot home from just inside the area - a goal reminiscent of Gascoine's strike against Scotland in Euro 96.

 

Our fourth goal came mid way through the second half when Taylor took advantage of a poorly controlled pass across the defence to run through and rifle in past a helpless keeper. We continue to press for the rest of the game and several chances came our way with Taylor narrowly missing out on a hat-trick on one or two occasions.
