Slough Express

Recommended Posts

A fair amount of column space this morning, full back page, articles on p2+3, some letters on the letter page and asn editors comment.

Most comments seem fair but both the editor and Bryce Martin are still confusing the situation by claiming a move back to WP is a viable option. hen will people learn this is not on.

I was particularly pleased to see the letter of support from the Dagger, it was very concise and gave some good info regarding a merger. Thanks.

However the letter that has really p1ssed me off this morning is the response from a regular correspondant saying he will accept Teds invitation next time Chelsea or MIllall come to town so he can see fans on the rampage when they lose. It's this sort of unsubstantiated scaremongering that really does us damage. Although he is entitled to his opinion how can it be printed when it such rubbish. In my eyes this man is playing in to our hands. How often do we draw Milwall or Chelsea, not for the last 20 years. I've seen slough lose several times, but never seen trouble because of it. This man should get his facts straight.

The chances of drawing Millwall or Chelsea in one of the cups is damned near impossible.

Apart from the Rebels needing to make it to Round 3, which is no mean feat when you have to win four qualifying rounds AND two "proper" rounds to get there. That's SIX matches, including potentially two matches against Football League (or whatever its called) opposition. Even if you said that the chances of winning all these games was 50%, that means that the chances of reaching Round 3 would be less than 2%.

Even if Slough were to make it that far, the chances of drawing either of these two teams at home are less than 2%.

That makes (using my dodgy odds) the chances of reaching the 3rd Round and drawing one of these two clubs AT HOME less than 2% of less than 2% or 0.04% (1/2500)

Seeing as Slough have never made the 3rd Round in their History, then the chances look negligable.

Oh, and if the Rebels did make it that far and drew one of the clubs mentioned, the chances are that the game would have to be moved on Police advice anyway!

Some people should engage their brain before speaking!

Thanks for the numbers Nelson. It shows how pathetic this man is. The problem is that the residents read his rubbish and then believe it. Notice he didn't want to accept the invitation of going to a normal league game. He probably knows he would be proven wrong.

Are you the person who supported us in the paper?

Next local elections we should get David to stand against Janik as at last David knows what he is talking about.

And think what a calming effect he would have at council meetings.
