Last night:: vs Shenfield and training.

In a Reserves/trial match last night at the Oaklands stadium, The Mighty Saints saw off Shenfield from the Essex Intermediate League by 2-0.

Robbo was in goal. Names that you will know included 'Matty' Jones, 'Ammo' Riley, 'Coggs' Cogger, 'Atto' Attwood, and Gibbo [No, not that one. The imposing figure of Darren Gibb]. Gary Wraight and Graeme Butler, both returning from injury, played.

Ryan Jenner, the one with bleached hair from Saturday, and the one who played up front in the second half against Luton played. Half a dozen other triallists.

We had 87.5% of the possession and sealed victory with two second half goals, a magnificent strike from the edge of the area by Wraighty and a far post header from Matty.

The first team squad trained under the watchful eyes of Migsy and Thommo. Gazza Crawshaw was there, as was a former [Carling] Premiership player but I'm not going to tell you who it was [Nah Nah, Nn Nah Nah, I've got a secret.] No sign of Rob & Webbo's U21 Eire International. Perhaps we will be told on Wednesday. Or Monday.

Devastating news from the Manager. Neily Gough is no longer with the club. He didn't stick to the diet sheet, apparently. That reminds me of a post from someone just after the end of the season. "We look all right up front" or some such. None of the 4 strikers from the end of last season is with us today. The strikers with the 1st team squad last night were the dreadlocked one from the Luton game and his partner, ? Standen.

The Reserves/trial match against Hatfield Town this coming Thursday scheduled to be away from home will actually take place at Oaklands College. Admission is £25, £35 for concessions and ex-freeloaders. No. I'm joking about the admission. It's free. See you there Claire.

Hi Claire.

It's ohhhhhh soooooooooooooo frustrating when someone knows a secret and wont tell, isn't it?

Before you get too excited, Claire, do you remember Andy somoneorother who graced Clarence Park with his presence at the start of the season before last under Cookie & Robbo?

O.K. O.K., Claire. I'll be friendly and give you a cryptic clue. One of his former clubs first. Here's the clue: "366".

Now I come to think about it, Andy Donneghan [?] was signed at the start of Robbo & Cookie's reign at t'Park under Buzz Lightyear. We sold several hundred season tickets in the fanfare of publicity on the back of his pedigree as I recall.

Anyway. back to this new one who trained last night.

No. It's not David Beckham. Fanciable? Well I wouldn't know about that. Good looking in a mature sort of way, some may say, I guess. do you want another clue?

'Older' is relative, Claire. This one in the September of his career in terms of the Premiership, it must be said. And, yes, certainly 'experienced' in terms of his football career.

So. The first clue was one of his clubs. "366". Here's another clue for another of his clubs "Historic Roman Town". And a third "Gibbo country".
