Todays picks....

Recommended Posts

Went to\London today with my brother to see Kill Bill Vol.2 (v. good movie!) and went to HMV afterwards. I bought:

The Polyphonic Spree- Together we're Heavy

Graham Coxon- Happiness in Magazines

The Bees- Free The Bees

2 Many DJs Part 3.

Haven't listened to them yet, so will give you my verdict tomorrow!

The Bees' album comes highly recommended from me. Tails off a bit towards the end, but the first seven tracks are excellent. Also, listen out for the last track - a blatant Rubber Soul-era Beatles soundalike!

Well Zeal, you'll be pleased to know that the Polyphonic Spree album is very good! However, my favourite out of the ones I bought is without doubt The Bees. You should definitley buy that, I'd think you'd like it. Very up-beat, kind of funky tunes on there. I liked Grham Coxons album as well although I haven't given it a thorough going over yet! <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

oh yeah and the 2 many DJs one is ace as well!

I heard something which I can't decide is utter genius or pure sh1t, I'll give you a description of what I heard this morning on XFM:

William Shatner/Joe Jackson/Ben Folds Five - Common People

Yes they covered it and I wasn't quite sure how to react afterwards, it certainly is, er, unique...

Think I might get the Bees album I've heard good things about it.

Yeah, I'd say it sounds a bit like the Byrds really. But I think there's something about it, in the way it was produced sounds really authentic, as if you would not be able to tell if it had been produced now or 40 years ago, that sounds odd, but when you listen to the album you'll see what I mean, there's no modern instrumentation, sophisticated mixing or anything like that.
