Slough players featured in a training match played purposely behind closed doors at the Polish Club against Conference South side Basingstoke. Eddie Denton and his management team took this opportunity to look at playing staff for new season under match conditions against a strong Basingstoke side.

Players featuring included:

John Kennedy (21 year old goalkeeper. Member of the NZ academy youth side), Josias Carbon, Alex Haddow, Adrian Browne, James Saulsbury (23 y/o defender previously at Marlow and Thame.) Michael Murphy, Sam Shepherd (23 year old midfielder. Previously with Oxford United, Marlow & Chesham) Veli Hakki, Ian Hodges, Andy Deaner, Gavin Rose (Formerly of Carshalton, Bromley, Gravesend midfield player) Martin Moller, Christian Metcalfe, Matt Seedal, Ryan Williams, Glen Harris, Matt Miller, Danny Steer, Rav Briach.

Eddie was very pleased with the workout and felt that the team dominated the match once the side settled before the changes began to take place.

Eddie felt that the training match was required to be behind closed doors so that the playing side could concentrate on playing a competetive training match away from outside pressure in what was deemed as an intensive training session, not a public match. The site at the Polish Club also could not facilitate spectators safely for this match.

Eddie and the team are currently looking forward to the fun day which they will be present at on the 1st August between 2pm and 6pm hoping to see many fans there in attendance.

Speaking to Gary tonight he seems to think it may be - although looking at this thread here it appears to be the wrong name? Super Matty Seedal did ask on email for a trial though, so that's our claim to fame.

The Basingstoke results aint bad considering they have already played a friendly and we were missing Gyour, Daly, Wilko and Spence.

Exactly...

Praise where praise is due, and avoid excessive criticism after an 'off' game (I'm sure that all players have them from time to time!)

- eg if a player is off-form due to a lack of confidence, telling him he is off-form is unlikely to improve matters!

So, Gary, 'Jonathan Keenan' == 'John Kennedy' ?
