Why does this forum not mention the most important aspect of any club ie The players and Management ?

You may end up with a ground but with no players !

Slough has been riddled with politics for years and will seemingly never change.

Bemused - given that the future of the club currently hangs in the balance, please forgive supporters of Slough Town if the management and playing staff are not at the forefront of our thinking at the moment. I understand our manager is doing a good job with getting our players ready for the new season but as it stands we are not sure if the club will be there to begin the new season.

Our first friendly is scheduled for this Friday, after which I'm sure there will be some discussion on initial thoughts of the squad for the 2004/05 season. But before then there are two days of critical meetings at Slough Town Hall which obviously have major implications for the playing staff and management, as well as the club's supporters.

Here you go then, just to keep you happy - Eddie and Mickey are legends, all the players from last season still at the club have achieved Gold-like status and any new players are well on the way to that too. Happy now?

Eddie and Mickey have been preparing the players for the new season and have been superb in doing so. At present all the players are happy to stay, there appears to be a real professional look to the training sessions and the squad remains relatively consistent from last season continuing the bond.

If we don't get the future of the club and ground sorted out, Slough Town FC would not have to worry about what players are available again at any point in the future as there wouldn't be an STFC to worry about at all.

If we can at least show some progress on off the field activities with steady resolutions, then the playing side can be looked at with more detail. I think the initial priority must be the club as a whole.

As is often said, the club is bigger than any one individual.

Bemused,

This time last year, Slough fans were looking at the situation where the team had lost its manager (no bad thing, as it proved later!) and many of the players had followed him. There was no manager, only half a team and no ground - at least until the groundshare with Windsor was arranged. Yet somehow, everything fell into place and STFC was one of the form teams in its division.

This year, we have a manager with a proven track record, a largely unchanged team and assured use of the ground-share arrangement at Windsor for at least another year. For once most fans know that we do not have to worry about what is happening on the pitch - we trust our manager to do what he's good at, and are looking forward to the start of the season.

In the meantime, we can afford to concentrate our attention and energy on trying to save the club...
