Martyn Deaner

I have had the season ticket letter from Roy Merryweather and the Club's address shown is Wexham Park Stadium!!!

But he does say that as of last Wednesday he cannot see a change of heart from Martyn Deaner. However, I do hope that the Trust will impress on the Council leaders at the meeting tomorrow, that they personally and directly, are responsible for this situation which has caused the man who has funded the club to walk away at this stage.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the new Stadium, the Feasibility Study was a contractual commitment and should be fulfilled. If at the end of that the COuncil wishes to withdraw, then that is the appropriate time and at least some time will have been found to try and implement some other option.

The flip tone of their suggestions so far and the patronising attitude of the Councillors speaking to the press and posting on here does not sound to me like people doing anything other than what politicians of all hues do - Spin and more spin to make sure that their teflon coating works.

Has any of them ever spoken to Mayfair Communications, for example?

I hope that they have had their promised conversations with Mr Deaner and apologised to him for the megaphone policy making in which they have indulged so far. Many people have had a lot of bad things to say about him over the years, (me included), but we cannot deny that the club is still here and got promoted last season and would that have happened without his financial support making it possible for Eddie and the lads to achieve it?. He has also tried to find a long term solution for the club in the face of some unbelievable behaviour.

I really do not believe that a solution to this problem is beyond the wit of the Council and its Officers to solve and they could well start by talking to the man towards whom they have behaved extremely badly.

So come on Slough Council, show us you can be big people and admit you have so far got it wrong. Ultimately you will be judged on your credibility and integrity - we're waiting.......

Maybe this is another question for them tomorrow night. Everyone, or everyone who hasn't bothered to research the subject properly, indicates that we should do a deal with Mayfair. Come on then, Stokes, BILLD, Janik, Howard et al, get off your backsides and do it.

Aren't I correct in saying that the whole debacle started when the Thorne's had a falling out with the Council too? Notice a common thread appearing here?

Whatever options presented to the Trust tomorrow, none of them will be worth two cents if the club does not have its own base, meaning a stadium with money mkaing facilities, such as a clubhouse. Even if Stokes and his henchmen could negotiate with the Thorne's that we are allowed to play at Wexham Park, we still wouldn't make any money from the bar or conferencing facilities.

Exactly BFR! But has THAT ever been put to Mayfair? The Council keeps carrying on as if it is an option, but have they ever actually picked up the phone and asked what would it take to get that kind of deal where the club gets facilities to play and earn its keep? Unlikely, but........

And what would it take to get Mr Deaner to change his mind - fulfil the contract and get us a new ground with all these facilities. But it increasingly looks as if he has given up on them, and who can blame him?

It is obvious what we need. Anything else, dear Council, is political hot air, for media consumption to look as if you are doing something... Back to the questions about integrity, I guess.
