Two second half penalties from Charlie Taylor sealed an accomplished win over a strong Boreham Wood side as we opened our pre-season programme.

 

A 20 yard shot from Taylor was blocked by the home keeper with Kirk Jackson following up to prod narrowly wide. Two minutes later our Jake Whincup was called into action making a great save following a quick break upfield.

 

The opening period of the second half saw our most dominant spell of the match and we took the lead 2 minutes in when Taylor converted from the spot after Tarkan Mustafa was brought down in the area. 4 minutes later we were awarded another penalty, this time for handball, and Taylor again stepped up and slotted home as confidently as the first. Woods keeper then did well to keep the score down, making superb saves from a Paul McCarthy close range header in the 52nd minute and then from a low 20 yard drive from Simon Wormull a minute later. Four minutes after that a diving header from Taylor beat the keeper but went over via the crossbar. In the final minutes Boreham Wood themselves won a penalty but Whincup dived full length to save.
