CAR BOOT SALE!

GHA EFM

Recommended Posts

This Sunday, there's a car boot sale at Fleetville JMI. The only association I have with Fleetville is playing them at football when I was 10 (playing for the year above, you see). They had a girl playing (a girl!!!) up front. She was quite good. And attractive. Very surreal.

However, I am aware there is a car boot sale taking place at the school because of the big posters hanging down the side of Safeway, facing Hatfield Road, the Post Office, Simmons etc.

Good idea, that. Spread the word of an event or events through big posters on the side of Safeway. They might have more posters in other positions that I have yet to see. Public awareness though, ten out of ten.

Congratulations, Fleetville JMI. I most probably won't be there, but some people will, and so good luck all the same.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!

We did think about that, so we may have a change of mind about them!!!!

But we'll wait and see what they look like first then decide whether we should or not!!!!!!!!

Community centres would be a great place to put the posters up!!!!!

AFF - you liked our idea, maybe you could buy the ladies at your work (yes, i know they are professional, respectable women - but think of it as team building excersise) tickets so they too can enjoy the fun!!!

The fact that no amount of advertising this "event" will attract more than about 10 people along. Vicky Baxter, Helen, Helen's mum (dragged against her will from Cornwall), you and your sister will be about it. One or two others maybe. Can't see many more interested.

If you don't put a contact number on the posters, then no-one will be able to buy tickets.

If you do, then you'll get a bunch of weirdo's phoning you up.

No point in saying "tickets available at SACFC home games"... believe me, no-one will come out of their way on a Saturday afternoon to pick up a ticket for a "party" when they won't know anyone there, in a place where they've never been to before.

You have 15-20 lunatics in their twenties planning to come along and gatecrash, and you think that by saying "you won't be allowed in" that they'll turn round and say "okay, fair game, let's go down the Crown."

Enough holes for starters??

Zeal!!!!!!!!!

Well we have a Markyate Mob of 20 coming for starters, then there's about 20 from Sopwell coming (including Jenny!!!!!!!), my sister wont come (she hates St.Albans), then we have Baxters friends, we also have Leila, Becci, and Gemma (Kev's daughter) she'll hopefully bring her mum and some mates, then AFF said he'd mention it to "er-in-doors" (i think that's what he said) and hopefully Mrs Gibson will be bringing some friends as well!!!!!!!

We have got our numbers on the posters, but i reckon we shoudl just put them in community halls, where a lot of women go!!!!!

Too true, too true.

Thinking about any possible costs of putting HUGE posters on the outside of Safeway. I reckon Fleetville JMI have done it quite cheaply in a two-way deal, getting Safeway to sponsor their Pupil Of The Month award in exchange for posters.

They know what they're doing, that school. Oi AFF, how come I didn't go there?

Hi GHA.

You wouldn't have won pupil of the month GHA. Anyway, your mother would have viewed that sort of stuff as too competitive and politically incorrect.

Hi Claire.

You mentioned last night that, other than 'the turn', the only men present will be the Bar Manager's husband and herts blue, each wearing trousers and a bow-tie, and 'oiled-up' to man the bar. That should attract a few punters.

One last thing, Claire. You said you wanted 75 to attend. Don't forget to make allowance for freeloaders.
