The Final Countdown

Well a month to go as from today (and it's my birthday!) and we are still none the wiser as to what the first fixtures will be. As somebody mentioned on the Romford website, fourteen teams will meet at Gallows Corner at 11am on August 14 and await a text message from the league as to where they will be playing, and from then on it will be akin to the 'Cannonball Run'.

Or maybe they are late because it is taking so long to determine how many midweek away games they can give Romford? How cynical can one get!

First of all Happy Birthday PinotGrigiot.

Ryman fixtures are out today at noon....not quite sure when the Spartan League will give these out...usually its around the same time therefore you can expect the ESL fixtures out in the next day or so....

Cannonball run.....classic......I used to have an outfit like Captain Chaos's...! But the missus said she'd rather see me in a batman outfit...!

Anything to please the better half..!

My God, the thought of that could turn me to drink! By the way, have you or do you know anyone who has any old Ilford programmes for sale? Preferably against Romford. I bought a few off of Len Llewellyn a few months ago, so we can cross him off.

September could be a league game free month for ETFC what with the FA Cup and Vase games. I trust somebody will take this into consideration?

Monthly, I'm afraid. I had a half hour telephone conversation with the SSML Fixture Secretary last weekend during which we discussed the merits and benefits of producing a yearly fixture list. All credit to fixture secretaries for the job they do. However, there are computer programmes that can produce fixtures and take ground share agreements into consideration.

End of July? Then it will take a week for them to be sent and then digested by the ESL and as predicted previously we will all be waiting anxiously at Gallows Corner come Saturday August 14.

Wouldn't it be nice if the League committee could put their heads above the trenches and let people know what is happening. Surely the constitution format must have been discussed by now?
