Nice piece in the NLP yesterday

About Leyton FC's rise through the leagues.

Obviously I am aware of the history between ETFC and Leyton but I have to say I am impressed the way they have won consecutive promotions.

OK so they have good money to spend on players..but the majority of the squad still exist from the ESL.

A very good story.......

its looking good mate, we have done a lot of work on it this close season. its still a bit un even in places but pretty flat. got a new drainage system and large areas have been re seeded.

a lot of the mud on our pitch was worm casts and that has now been treated, also loads of weed killer!

and we have ordered new goals (they are the boxed net ones they use in the premier league!) so when i score past you next season it will look even better! unless of course you can pull off another save like the one from that header!

we raised the money thro a sponsored penalty shoot out! (a piece of advice chopper, dont watch the eyes! ha ha)

goals do make a pitch! and ours were awful!

we have some quality forwards this year so there will be no clean sheets for you this time round mate!

what you think of your cup draws? if you beat whoever your playing sudbrey will be a nice tie.

Your right there goalposts do make a pitch .

I dont watch the eyes just incase you get a boss eyed player taking it thet you will be stuffed.

as for the cup first we have to concentrate on the first games but Sudbury would be a good tough game but as i understand there manager has gone to Wroxham as Coach.

I think and hope that our defence is better year so a clean sheet against you hope so.

Maybe we could get Les Gold to seek sponsorship for new goalposts how about it Les !

Yes I saw that, not wanting to put a damper on things but technically they are not the oldest team in London as the offical Leyton would now be part of Waltham Forest F.C.

Also when you say NPL, dont you mean the AFC Wimbledon Gazzette. I really support what AFC have done but come on, enough is enough!

C'mon Guys, lets remember that ETFC were the FIRST Club to do it. I know AFC Wombles have bucket loads more supporters than ETFC,therefore can afford to buy A Football Club, but we were the first club to do it, & I think considering what we have had to contend with over the last few Seasons, I don't think we have done too bad.

At least we have a "Stadium" albeit quite small, & by all accounts, this Season the Pitch will be a bit better.

Les Gold does a great job Chopper you are right, but I think there are some other things that need addressing just now, so I quess your New Goal Posts will have to wait. Still you never know we might get a nice Lottery win, now would'nt that be nice!!!

The pitch did look good chopper.....!

Regardless if they are the oldest team in London etc.....The point I am making is Leyton and various other clubs...Ford Utd, Canvey Island etc etc etc should be the motivation us ESL clubs need to get on through the pyramid...

This could be a highly inflammatory comment on the basis that I seem to remember Leyton "Going to court" to retrieve their history back and they did ... which was why Leyton Pennant had to change their name to Waltham Forest and why the FA then had to sanction same . I think they may well be the "oldest" club as NLP suggest.. or do you really know different ?

If you are correct then I apologise, as I was not aware of this development. However to suggest it was inflamatory is a little OTT as it was a technical observation not intended to take sides or "have a go" at anyone.

Leyton F.C. have done very well and good luck to them.
