Tomorrow's Slough Observer

Chris

Recommended Posts

I’m very happy to say that this week the Observer has done the football club proud with this weeks saga involving Slough Town Football Club.

I can’t really say what’s in tomorrow’s edition, but it is excellent coverage of our current plight with detailed information on both the front and back pages. We’ve also got a whole page of letters devoted to the football club and also the positive comment from the paper on page two is also very nice to hear.

Now I know many of you know I work for the Observer, but have nothing to do with the paper (I run thisisslough.com). However, I’ve never understood some people’s recent criticism of the Rebels coverage in the paper, yes maybe they had a point under the old régime, but they have been unfairly criticised at times when they have done nothing wrong, so hopefully some people will eat their words tomorrow…

Cheers

See you all soon

Let's hope that their editing of letters is better than the Express who kindly edited mine in today's edition to read that the land at Wexham Park DOES belong to the Football Club when the letter I sent them clearly stated DOES NOT.

I've got to agree with you Chris, the coverage is excellent. Half of the letters page is dedicated to those sent in by Slough supporters and the Deaner vs Stokes & SBC story covers the front and back pages. Well done to the Observer for getting the point over and particularly for their thoughts in What We Say.

Well done to those who wrote letters to the paper. Now everybody must get scribbling to their councillors so that they have to sit up and take notice. More letters to the paper will be needed too, as no doubt there will be something of a backlash against us next week.

Having read the Observer today I am also delighted by the amount of coverage, but I have a few questions - firstly, Martyn is going to pay the £25k rent this season which is obviously good news - but is he also going to pay the wage bill? Or did I miss that? Also what happens after this coming season? Trust members will have an idea of how much money is in the STST kitty, and it certainly ain't enough to sustain a team at this level yet.

I picked that up as well. If the contract is set up for 3 year with 2 years left doesnt that leave us with a £25,000 short fall if deaner is to pay this seasons rent. With the council taking over does that mean they will foot the bill or will we be left with more payment to struggle with. Will they also take over the payment of players wages?

Will there be a process of looking for new backers to the club or is there a short list of people likely to take over?
