Urgent - Council Documents

Recommended Posts

The Deaner Press Release says "We will endeavour to handover the club to the Council which was provided for in the original documents when we first became involved."

To enable us in general and me in particular to take up cudgels on behalf of the club, does anybody anywhere have copies or specific knowledge of these original documents? Does anybody have a contact address for Mr Deaner so that we can request them?

It seems to me vital to campaign against the Council that we must be able to rub their noses in their breach of faith, and the actual wording is crucial to that.

The 'breach of faith' is a battle between Deaner and the Council. Our battle is to keep the football club alive and bring STFC back to Slough. It must be remembered Andrew that these documents you refer to, if they exist, would have been signed by the then leaders of the council, Labour. In all likelihood, Stokes and the BILLD are only becoming privy to these documents and the ins and outs of what contracts exist now that the new council is being formed. Therefore, to 'rub their noses' into something that they may only just become aware of probably would not do us any favours.

Martyn Deaner is big enough to fight his own battles. If he walks away from the club as he has threatened then we may have to work alongside the new council and I'm pretty sure they will take a dim view of this sort of action. This does not mean you should not flood councillors with letters, I'm just suggesting that you ask them questions about what is known - i.e. Stokes saying woof woof to the new stadium proposals and the garbage being thrown around about us being able to go back to Wexham Park.

Sorry BFR but for once I must disagree with you!. Councillor Stokes and his colleagues have been members of the Council for many years, and I think it is extremely unlikely that they are unaware of any dealings which the Council has had in the past, if the council is like any of which I have had experience. Furthermore, I am sure that they understand that the whilst the CONTROL of the council is a matter of politics, the council is a corporate entity in its own right and any contracts or agreements into which it enters are binding on it as a whole - change of political control cannot change that. So if they agreed it, they are stuck with it and as Slough Supporters we are entitled to ensure that the Council deals honourably with the club according to its agreements. If they try to pretend it does not exist then they should be brought face to face with that.

Secondly, there is an issue in trying to separate the parties to all this. Slough Town Football Club is an entity but it is owned by a company controlled by Martyn Deaner and two other directors. Slough Town Supporters Trust has an interest in supporting the club, but no legal rights to it or its name. If MD is correct that these documents show that if he walks away and the Council is then by default the Owner of the club, then we need to know that that is the case - otherwise who do you know who you have to influence? I take your point about "rubbing their noses in it", but I meant that more in the sense of bringing them face to face with their commitments rather than attempting to humiliate them.

There are too many unknowns in this whole situation, and I would suggest that all avenues need to be explored. If one sits down and produces a "what if" table there are a lot of possibilities which are consequent on other things happening. Like, if the season starts in a a matter of week's time and the ground rent at Windsor is not paid, what options are there? There is a ground at WP, (and I agree with your other post that it is not a long term possibility for the financial survival of the club unless the relationship with the fundraising side changes, such as the bar take), but in the short term it could provide a bolt hole. If that is the case what terms would Mayfair Communications be prepared to accept that? If the Council is not prepared to allow the development at Kennedy Park, what other options are available to the Slough Town Football Club entity? Would a new owner, be it the council or a white knight who buys it from Mr Deaner such as Mr Gladwish for example (only an example!) be prepared to do something like buy WP off Mayfair?

So many questions, so few answers. If Mr Deaner is not bluffing, like his resignation before last season, then time is short. But I still argue that these items are all interlinked and ultimately, unless we do an AFC Wimbledon and set up something completely separate then one is forced to deal with the situation we have, with the agreements, legal relationships and the personalities. To argue the case properly, we need all the facts - that is all I was asking.

Yes true Andrew....

I can remember being at the meeting and that it was minuted and I am sure the document has been copied and kept by FRUS....

It was very common knowledge at the orginal time that this proviso had been put in place and in fact was edited in the paper too....if you remember lots of our supporters referred to this every time we have crisis....

A bit of Sherlock Holmes will do the trick....

I know we don't have this copy...but I am sure it exsists....

If we do have to start again like AFC Wimbledon, then we will have to try....but remember its the present council that will be putting the nail in our coffin...MD has tried....and with the last administration had moved forward and now we are again going to be left high and dry....

DON'T LET IT HAPPEN.....

Letters and phone calls and attending meetings and telling all your friends if there is something they have always wanted to help you with ...get them to the town hall on the 20 and 29th July......

if we can get them to re consider...and move this project forward asap...we can all enjoy what will be a massive boost for the area and Slough in general....

cheers Chris <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
