I have been informed by a very good "source" that Stuart instigated the decision to move.

Ilford didn't want to lose him but had no choice.

What a result, 3 points before we've even kicked a ball. First met him at Leyton then at Ilford, when he came in to take charge of the coaching. Very knowledgable and will make a massive difference to the Manor.

foxy i heard that your manager this year is being paid (i wont say how much) but a good years salary to manage you full time, is that correct?

Pinnacle, don't know where you get your information, but i believe mine to be way better. Now knowing most of you at Waltham Abbey are just kids, maybe your idea of a full time salary is your weekly envelope from the newsagents for your paper round, but believe me when i tell you our new manager will definately not be paid stupid amounts like you are suggesting.

 

How would it benefit a club to pay their manager full time when finacially they are worse of than last season due to sponsers pulling out? Our manager will not be able to support his wife and two kids on what Ilford would pay him.

If you lok at the amount of time and effort put in by most managers at this level; they certainly deserve a living wage.

 

Reality is that most clubs can't afford that; and if they did have any spare cash it would probably go on better players

I don't believe that for one minute, lets look at our Manager for example. Every Sunday he is out watching local football to try and attract the best local players to our club. Most Mondays he attends committee meetings and the like. Tuesday and Thursday he is at training and stays in the club to sort other matters out. On Saturday he comes to the ground early and puts the nets up, organises the changing rooms, sorts all the kit out and anything else that needs doing. When the pitch is flooded he even sweeps it, forks it or whatever to get the game on. After he makes sure everything is cleared up, locked up and ship shape before facing the officals in the club house. Throughout the season he always helps with ground repairs and watches every game at the Abbey and travels to every Under 18 game. He appears to have Wednesday's and Friday's off.

I think all this is normal, why should we on earth pay him????????
