New Signing

Recommended Posts

Hornchurch are delighted to announce the signing of Mark Westhead from Conference side Stevenage Borough.

Mark, who is 29 next month and stands at 6'3" is a highly experienced goalkeeper. Having first started as a trainee at Bolton Wanderers, he had spells at Telford, Kidderminster, Wycombe, and Leigh RMI before joining Stevenage Borough in May 2002.

Westhead is the second keeper signed in the close season by boss Garry Hill, and joins former Leyton Orient shot stopper Ashley Bayes in competition for the number one shirt.

Also signing today is former Fulham keeper Jim Stannard – he joins ‘The Urchins’ as a Goalkeeping Coach. Jim started his career at local side Ford United before being signed by Fulham for the first of two spells spanning 13 successful years. His time at Craven Cottage was only broken by a 17 month spell at Southend United.

The club is delighted to welcome both Mark & Jim to Hornchurch for the new Conference South season, which kicks off on Saturday August 14th with a trip to Weston-Super-Mare.

Hi Brentford fan here.

I heard you were trying to sign alan julian from us. Unfortunate for you the deal didn't go through as he is a keeper with great potential.

I guess he was recommended by your new signing Jim Stannard. Stannard has been coaching at Brentford for about 3/4 years and has done a great job. Paul Smith who was sold from us to Southampton (2nd choice there) became a suberb keeper because of Stannard.

All the best and good luck with the new season.

P.S Does anyone have the link (website) for the article at the top about the signing of Westhead and Jim - Cheers.
