As you know, I never pass on rumours but I bumped into a chap the other day who gave me some very bad 'news' indeed. The only one of our heroes from last season who played for a decent pro club in his earlier days, Southend United, has left The Mighty Saints and joined Barking & East Ham, allegedly.

 

His concerns were, clearly, not allayed either, it would seem.

 

If true, you heard it hear first. If not, it's nothing to do with me.

Dean Holdsworth will be nearly 36 when we play Havant, having been tempted out of retirement after leaving (being released by?) relegated Wimbledon.

I detected a note of sarcasm there. It's a good job this isn't the Official Forum.

 

Declan Perkins had a fine pedigree [6 appearances, 5 as sub and one goal for the Mighty Shrimpers] and he did a super job at Clarence Park in the short time that he was with us, maintaining the pressure on Watts and Clarke from the bench, and providing a range of options for the Manager. I always knew that, with his background, he was destined for a far higher standard of football and I, for one, wish him further and greater success at Barking & East Ham.

 

Does anyone know whether Neil Gough has signed and committed his future to The Saints?

I've heard that the rest of the squad and any forthcoming players, like with the signing of the manager's 2yr contract, are waiting for Neil to sign a similar contract before committing thier futures to the club.
