Have you seen the Southern League web-site, they say 12 July so I can't imagine the ESL will know anything until they are published, then there is the SSML to consider. Going by previous threads plus comments at the AGM my guess is that there will be 28 League games and a League system for the League Cup of 4-4-4-3 plus knockout in the Brasted Trophy which gives a minimum of 32/34 games and a possible maximum of 35/37 plus another 1/3 in the GBT. i.e. Success could mean 40 ESL games .... failure could mean 33 games and that is one more than last season when we had 16 clubs and straight knockout in the two Cups. Still, just a thought - its up to the suits to sort it I suppose and some ESL pitches are a bit dodgy to support any more games ..oh sorry for the controversy !

I spoke to the SSML fixture secretary at the AGM on Saturday. He won't begin to look at the fixtures until after the FA Competition draws are made this Friday. If I recall correctly, the fixtures were not released until ten days before the season was due to start last year. As the SSML doesn't start until 21 August, we will be lucky to have any fixture details before the start of August. Because of the ETFC/Brimsdown situation, this would delay ESL fixtures until very close to the start of your season, but I'm sure "Uncle Len" will have some form of provisional fixture list in mind for you.

Not on your nelly .. everyone has had a chance in close season to sort themselves out pitch wise, so my comments could and, hopefully will be history !

But add on winning the Vase, the Middx Senior and Charity cups and that should mean a long and tough season. Oh well, it's tough at the top!

Should be fun then as the ESL season starts a week before!

How hard can it be to produce a set of fixtures and then tinker with them when and needs be? Okay, so it is reliant on the Townies and Brimsdown situation, but how many times in the past have matches in our relatively small league been moved at short notice?

Apart from the Townies and to a slightly lesser extent Romford, the majority of other clubs in our league hardly have the support that would be put out by a late fixture change.

For those with longer memories the ESL actually did a whole season's fixtures - either 94-5 or 95-6.
