As you are all aware , the new head of council has decided to axe the proposed re location of Slough Town FC , even though the fesiblity study is still taking place !

YOU NEED TO ACT NOW ! How much longer can we expect Martin Deaner to support the idea and secure a future for our beloved club....

You need to send letters to your local councillors Now...today not tomorrow we all need to re act to such plans... ask the questions why and have their any plans for a new ground and supporting us with financial help ???

The 1st Main Committee meeting will take place now on Tuesday 20th July 2004 at the Town Hall

time to be confirmed...WE NEED YOU ALL THERE !

if you don't ...we will have given in again...

WE MUST LET THEM KNOW WE ARE NOT GOING TO GO AWAY UNTIL WE GET A FUTURE SECURED FOR OUR CLUB !

Also at the next Board meeting of the new Trust , we have to put in a petition with at least 7 names before the 20th july 2004 , this will enable us to put in written questions for the new cabinet to answer and also to be in the cabinet chambers to received answers to those questions.

so please supply questions to us that you would like to ask ?? before the 18th of July please !!!

TREAT THIS WITH THE UTMOST URGENCY !!!

6 Years down the line again !! and almost 11 years since the Thornes pulled the pulg on us and we had hope before the elections and now again dispare !!!!!!!

ACT TODAY ! AND DON'T LEAVE IT TO OTHERS !!!

YOU NEED TO ACT NOW .....

cheers Chris Sliski

Chris,

I don't know whether others have similar experience but past ones I have had in disagreements with a council, (I did succeed once in getting carried out of a council meeting by the Police at one stage of a protest!) says it is better if people who are NOT on the Slough Electoral roll do not send too many letters - we don't want them to be able to reject the pressure on the grounds that "all the people who support the Club and are making the noise are outsiders who don't pay rates" or some similar lying get out.

On the other hand, as many people as can write in in some official capacity, that can get round it if they do not live in the Borough such as Secretary of a Slough based youth team, or other Slough sporting club etc.

I don't live in Slough, but will be happy to help anybody who wants a letter written for them - again it is better if they are all different, so they cannot say it is just a round robin.

I do live in South Bucks so if it comes to the stage where WP is back on the agenda, I will be more than happy to write to South Bucks councillors as a local resident and Slough Supporter.

The other thing that can be effective, (again from past experience) is face to face - turning up at Councillor's surgery sessions, makes it difficult for them to ignore the issue.

Finally, the other thing which can be effective is getting outside interest in the issue, particularly if it is not good publicity, such as articles in national papers, even if it is the NLP, or local BBC.

"Slough Town sold down the river again......."

Councillors show "Lack of pride in Club's achievements for the Borough"

If these are on posters displayed on cars and house windows and on lamp-posts, they start the process of making people aware, although don't get caught actually affixing them! Petitions at other local sports clubs from Hockey to Gyms, Tennis to Golf - who knows they may need support in the future - Sport v the Council!

Etc..... Some of these may be necessary if it does have to get nasty! But polite approach first!

Thanks andrew....yes we are taking the approach to go softy until they have pined the colours to the mast !

I bet it won't be amber and blue !!!!

We are proud of our town and its football team and wish we could become the centre of football for this town !

but we must all work together to acheive this including the new councilors...

cheers thanks for you views...
