Why do so many bother?

 

Henman every year, Euro 2004, WC 2002, Euro 2000, the cricket team.

 

The only well-known British sporting success we've had in recent memory are a couple of semi-finals, the Rugby World Cup, and the Curling.

 

So why do I see so many of those stupid St. George's Crosses on BMWs and Rollers around the city?

So you're saying that people shouldn't fly the flag, as we're obviously destined for failure again?

 

And for the record... England football team making the Q-F's of the Euro's is already a bigger achievement than the rugby team winning the World Cup last Autumn.

I'll disregard the last comment, for obvious reasons.

 

I'm not saying we're destined for failure, I'm saying we shouldn't be so expectant of success.

 

And anyway, if a flag's going to be flown, it should be blue with a golden cross.

To be honest, you sound like a typical glory-hunter - only prepared to show your colours once you've won something.
