Bowers & Pitsea FC

Recommended Posts

Good to see such a positive article in the Evening Echo last night regarding the hopes and aspirations of this club that have struggled a bit since their brilliant Championship a few years ago. New Management, including the highly rated Essex County Manager, Darren George ( Two successive wins against the Army with ESL players)

and important positions for John and Steve Warner could mean business and yet another club to take into reckoning for all you budding tipsters.

Mr Chairman, it has been a fair few years since I last saw an Essex senior league game, last one was at Burnham Ramblers.

Last time I saw Bowers they were just off the A13, excuse my ignorance but have Bowers and Pitsea merged? and if so are they playing at Bowers ground.

Give you a clue how long ago it was Canvey and Gt Wakering were playing in the Essex Senior and Basildon had only just left Ryman Div 2 N. After years of being on a par with Ricay.

How many years ago was that?

Must be somewhere around 1992 - far too long too watch scintillating football and I am shocked that you didn't go and see what Mr Embery achieved at Concord Rangers last season, for old times sake or Messrs Dodds and Cowell's old team, Stansted, winning the Sportsmanship award .... Hope you manage a game next season..... there should always be something for an Iron supporter to enjoy watching !

Yeah I noticed Ben had done really well at Concord, good bloke.

Last 3 season's watched Braintree home and away. Or the Reserves if the 1st team did not have a game or if neither had a game pop over and see Ridgeons / Eastern League.

Plan to come back this season to see Essex Senior League football. (When the Iron have a day off)

I forgot two seasons ago, I did watch an Essex Senior League game, first one since original post at top of thread. I was at the Ilford V Enfield game as our season had already finished, i think the result was 1.7 and Enfield got the title presented that night.

With us at Braintree not having a reserve team for one season, if our first team are not playing on a Tuesday I will come over and watch some Essex Senior League football, first port of call must be Basildon Utd, I liked their ground. Back in the early 90's best ground I thought then was Burnham Ramblers, impressed with their main stand.

Bob had mentioned on the coach his time at Stansted with pride.

Spoken to Kim, he has never mentioned his time at Stansted, I will have to talk to him about it.

I can understand how you knew Ben was at the Iron, how did you know that Kim and Bob / Directors were at our place, are they friends of yours?

Kim and Bob are long standing football acquaintances of whom I have great respect and I also go back a long way with a more than passing interest in Braintree, having an article appearing in one of Jon Weaver's 1978-79 programmes . I have a number of Crittall Athletic Programmes in my collection when they played the likes of Eton Manor Ford Sports and Ecko Sports (from Southend) just after the War. When you have been around Essex scene for so long it is not difficult to make friends in football and to have respect and interest in the history of such excellent clubs as your own. I wish you well for season 2004-2005 !

Cheers Mr Chairman, Jon Weaver was at the Braintree Reserves semi final of the Tolleshunt Darcy cup (this season just finished)he had returned to watching the Iron after a gap of a few years.

I have a copy of Jon's book - Braintree Town Fc's Cressing Road Stadium, a 75 year history.

(A brilliant read)

You must know Ilford prog editor and Braintree prog editor Len Llewellyn as well.

Good luck to you and to the Essex Senior League.

Mark at Braintree. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Did my eyes deceive me at that match or was that Lee Harding I saw standing on his own behind the goal in the second half getting soaking wet in a business suit? Everyone else, including Mr.Borg, had the sense to take cover under the trees to keep the rain off.
