2004 / 2005 SEASON - WHEN DOES IT START?

And the more league games played the more the final league table toppers can claim to be the genuinely best team in the ESL.

I don't see how a synthetic dressing up of the league cup/s structure is going to create a more interesting season for all the participants.

It's a shame that we have to hope to progress in outside cup competitions to give us a reasonably full season.

PB, i did read your post on that subject, but it was all wait and see on the night of the agm, and the main problem was always going to be just how many teams made up the leagues constitution. Being an odd number i'm assuming we'll have 3 leagues fo five, but who knows.

3 x 5 sould be logical.

If you remember, for my 4x4 I suggested a second 4x4 league competition after the first consisting of the top, 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams in each case from the first ones to give even more competitive games- if that makes sense.

But I don't know how one could arrange this from a 3 x 5 unless it was split 6, 4 and 4 or vice versa to give at least another six games on top of the original 8.

Last time the ESL had 15 clubs (in my Ilford days), the League Cup had four groups of four clubs and one group of three clubs. Top two progressed to the quarter finals.

Don't forget that the Gordon Brasted (as with its Harry Fisher predecessor) is meant to be a supplementary competition for clubs knocked out in the early stages. Therefore, allowing everyone to compete from the first round stage is actually giving all clubs more games.
