Well, I know it might seem like an unlikely candidate, but I recently bought the Amy Winehouse album and it's really good! Totally different to what I normally buy and I'd recommend it for sure. Also bought 'Are you experienced?' by Jimi Hendrix- it totally ROCKS maaaaannnn!!!

Also, I've been hearing a song on XFM, where the lyric goes 'and we all go on all right/all right...' think it's by a band with the word 'Mouse' in it's name. Anyway, it's a totally top song.

Zeal, would that album of the year be Graham Coxon?

Chubbhead, I think that's the b-side of the new Modest Mouse single. Not too bad...

There have been some unbelievably good albums released this year. Here's a selection of the more accessible ones:

Joanna Newsom - The Milk-Eyed Mender

Comets on Fire - Blue Cathedral

Animal Collective - Sung Tongs

Ghost - Hypnotic Underworld

Faust & Dalek - Derbe Respect, Alder

Lali Puna - Faking the Books

Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans

Pan Sonic - Kesto

Mission of Burma - OnOFFOn

Married Monk - The Belgian Kick

P.G. Six - The Well of Memory

+ perhaps not so accessible, but equally great:

Richard Youngs - River Through Howling Sky

Charalambides - Joy Shapes

Noxagt - The Iron Point
