Clarence Park Tennis Courts

Recommended Posts

I like a good game of Tennis me. I 'd love to watch Wimbledon, but just can't afford it.

Squash is abit like tennis. But a bit more funny when you get locked in the squash courts without a ball, for 1/2 of the hour that you booked it for!!!

To Quote "you're supposed to shut the door so anyone that is going to walk in doesn't get whacked by the ball"

I'll give you whacked by a blo@dy ball if you do that again HelenC!!!!!!!!

They are by the quadrant. If you go towards the chinese takeaway around the back (the wine shop end) and carry on past the dodgy modern looking church on the right and on the opposite side is the other dodgy modern looking church (which is where my mum and biological dad got married!!!!!!) and keep going down that road, there is a park on the right hand side. The tennis courts are there. I think they are tarmack though!!!!!!!

My nan would never let me mix with the kids in the park (why, i don't know!!!!!) I used to play on the slide and watch the other kids play tennis (see, if she let me play tennis at that young age - i bet i would have enjoyed a lot more of sport!!!!!)

i don't think you have to be a member - they just went in and played!!!!!!!

I love tennis - granted i can't play, but for my 13h birthday i even got a tennis racket!!!!!!

OI! GHA, those tennis courts are near where I live! Snob!;) It's not that bad, but the 'yoofs' of marshalswick do tend to congregate near the bus stop outside.

Zeal-here's some, hopefully ,clearer directions. Do you know where Sandringham school is? If so, turn off the Ridgeway down Skyswood Road. Keep going, then when you get to the bottom of the road turn right onto Sherwood Avenue and the park is just on the left. The church next to the park Claire is talking about is the Baptist Church. You can get the S3 to the school and then walk down from there.

I don't know if you have to pay or what but I just had a thought- why don't you use the ones at Sandringham school? We always used to go there as kids as it's just up the road from me and it's free and open after school finishes. Don't know if it's changed, but worth a look perhaps? You can have a cup of tea at my house after!

Cheers all!

Went to Verulamium in the end. Only played for two hours, but I've got a bloody tan this morning!!

Libro of course whipped me, but it was a pretty decent work-out. He thought my shot-playing was better than last Summer, although my fitness, and thus lack of speed on the court, let me down!!

Looking forward to another game in a couple of weeks time, Libro!

Oh - and my back is aching like fk this morning!!
