CLUB HAVE E.MAILED ME BACK STATING THAT WHEN NEWS IS FORTHCOMING IT WILL BE PUT ON THE MAIN PAGE. Thats not what we are looking for but at least we now know ,at least, that someone is still there.This is news in itself is it not.

When cycling past Hartsdown Park today I was struck by the high level of activity (several cars), so took the opportunity to see if I could catch any news. The activity is due to desperate efforts to get the club room up to standard for the proposed supporters meeting next week. I hope the club representative who spoke to me wont feel it disloyal if I pass on some comments. I did ask why the club was not able to provide more news updates via the website and was told that they are unable to put information up around various aspects which are interdependant and as such remain under negotiation. They are also very wary about raising expecations inappropriately when all the recent history is considered. They have discussed this at length, as they are aware of the level of anxiety this causes but just feel putting wait and see type announcements doesn't help. I did come away feeling far more optimistic - many threads appear to be coming together and are expected to bear fruit in the near future (apologies for mixed metaphors) at which time we might expect an avalanche of info on progress. The club are largely unable to comment on players leaving as, in general, the (out of contract) players have not officially informed the club of this and only news comes from signing clubs. I was also confidentally informed that once work starts on HDP a pitch could be ready in 12 weeks. All in all I did feel a lot more optimistic and, as I was told, if the people there didn't believe it they wouldn't be making the huge effort that they are.

I think our current predicament is somewhat like an iceberg - we see a little bit on the surface but most of the action is underneath and out of our sight.

 

Whilst this is frustrating, I am firmly of the belief that if we exercise some patience things will come right. After all the ups and downs of unsubstantiated rumour and conjecture our only course is to hold out for hard fact.

 

It's obvious that at the club people are beavering away, and I think that earns them the benefit of the doubt and a bit of belief from all of us.
