Well it has been a wicked few days!

Barcelona is a truly great city and I would recommend it to anyone )Claire?)

Been very cultural with the two ladies I´m here with seeing some Cathedrials (not a patch on St.Albans obviously and one is still only half built, Costello needs to get over there with his construction helmet on), parks and doing the whole sightseeing/tourist thing!

The beach is lovely as well for those who like that kind of thing!

Booze and food is cheap meaning we´ve had some nice pissed evenings

Visted the Nu Camp as well, what a stadium!

Bit of a loose end at the moment, the girls went at 10.30 this evening (I got a little tearful after they went) and I´m off on a train to Madrid at 11.30 in the morning. I was going to stay at the hotel where we were but that was quite expensive, then we were going to hire a car for the day and I was gonna sleep in that but I left my driving licence in the hotel when we went for the car. My bag is in a locker at the airport so I´m staying in here until 2.30, then I guess I´ll go down the beach until 5am when the tube opens then I´ll go to the airport and kip, pick my bag up and head for the station and Madrid (6hr train) and Gordon arrives about 8pm. Then on it for a night/day and then off to Lisbon!

You'll find the trains over that way are a heck of a lot better than over here, are you going from Barcelona Sants?

Got to agree though, Barca is a top place. I remember when I was at a loose end last time I spent a bit of time at the easy internet place on at the top of las ramblas, a stones throw from El Court Ingles.

Enjoy Madrid Voice, let us know what you think of that because I haven't been there yet.

Yeah Barca is a great city. I think I know the internet place you mean on La Ramblas, Steve. Logged on here a couple of times when I was in Barca last November.

Nou Camp is superb. If you take the tour of the ground it is well worthwhile. Get to see the changing rooms, pressroom, have your picture taken with the European Cup. It really is an excellent outing.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yes I did go from Barcelona Sants (which I sat outside until 5am)

And that was the Internet cafe that you mentioned I was in!

Madrid was cool, still very cheap, a few more bars and they sell Cider there!

Didn't really have enough time to look around the place but did pop to Real Madrids gound and Barcalona's is better!

Lisbon is also a pretty cool place, even if it is taken over by football fans!

As for the trains, well the overnight sleeper from Lisbon to Madrid was delayed 3hrs meaning we missed our flight and as we were going from Valladoild (don't ask me why, I didn't book it) we had to wait 24hrs for the next flight, so it was a 3hr journey back to Madrid to El Sol (a club which started playing indie then turned into a 70's soul-fest) until 5am then some sleeping on trains again until the next days flight!
