I was ten years old then when Platt scored that winner against Belgium, what a night that was!

 

Remember the 1998 World Cup vividly. I was on a ferry coming home from Belgium the night England lost on penalties to the Argies. No TV on board so had to listen to the game on the top deck on a transistor radio. Coming through customs just as penalties were being taken and heard a roar in the car park and assumed the Argies had missed a penalty. They had already missed but that roar was in fact by a Scotsman greeting Paul Ince's penalty miss. What a [***!!***]!!

Poorly timed but, I was watching Big Audio Dynamite, the Waterboys, Lloyd Cole, and Simple Minds at Milton Keynes in 1986 - the very same day of Maradonkey's "Hand of God" incident!

 

Lloyd Cole came on and announced that the match had just finished, 2-1 to England - most of the Bowl went mad....and then he corrected himself. Did it on purpose, the [***!!***]. I've hated the smug faced, miserable Morrissey copy-cat ever since!!!

I think if I had watched the game live I probably would've killed myself in frustration with the ref. As it was, got stoned and fell asleep on Milton Keynes station. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

 

I had a good summer for combining gigs and football that year.

 

Saw [and met] The Damned...and before the gig watched England 3 Poland 0.

 

The following week, did the same at a Big Country gig, when we beat Paraguay 3-0. And although they were Scots, Stuart Adamson was shouting "Come on England!" - top fella.
