with the shambles of Ilford finishing 2nd and still not being allowed to move into Ryman 1 or 2 is there any news on how the players have responded. I woudnt be surprised if many left to realise there ambitions of playing ryman football. also what about the management? What has the board done to screw this up?

It is a mystery why Ilford hav'ent moved into Ryman Div 2 ,There must be a reason. Brook house & Enfield Town have joined/Been Invited and it does seen a little unfair. And one or two players have also appeared to have rejoined the Town revolution.

Sorry Top Gun but it is not! Town moving into the Ryman Division II is a lateral tidying up move - nothing else. It is not a promotion. If town win Ryman II and Ilford win the ESL in the 2004/5 season both can go into Ryman I North. Ilford is a lot nearer Essex than Enfield Town is. It is swings and roundabouts.

We should have gone into Ryman 1 North in the season 2002/3 because we won the ESL but we didn't have a ground ready at that time to obtain grading so we had to wait a year to move across.

Just like town last year Ilford for whatever reason took their foot of the ground readiness accelerator just as Town were in top gear. We got a grading they didn't, we've got the crowds they haven't.

I think Ryman II will be a tougher league to get out of than the ESL but Town broke away from a Ryman League team so you can't expect us to not want to get back into the Ryman league as soon as practical. The Isthmian league is a cultural home to town supporters. We recognise and identify with it. The ESL was our seed tray for us to germinate but now this seedling needs planting out in the good soil that is the Ryman League.

The growth continues - The future is the town

We would not go into the ryman league division 1 north as there is now only ONE ryman division 1 and besides we would go into the southern league division 1 anyway,so NO advantage is gained by being in ryman 2.

I have received confirmation from the Spartan South Midlands League that St. Margaretsbury were refused a place in Ryman 2 due to the National League Systems Committee informing the Ryman League that they could only take ONE club from each feeder league.

Cleggy's assertion that ETFC got in ahead of Ilford because of ground gradings is incorrect. If you have an ESL grading, then you have a Ryman 2 grading. Ryman 1 would be a different matter but is not applicable in this circumstance. (Brook House failed their Grade B inspection).

In the case of the SSML, it was a straight case of two clubs of similar size and standard, Brook House or St. Margaretsbury. As Brook House finished highest (2nd) they got the nod. In the ESL, however, it was a financial decision rather than a footballing one. ETFC's larger support base was the key factor as larger crowds equal more finances for the clubs and a better proposition for Ryman, Bryco and any other potential sponsors. Not the way it should be but there you are.

Of course, as I stated in a different thread, at the moment everything is still based on the assumption that the new clubs will be voted in at the annual general meeting. AFC Wimbledon will tell you that this is by no means a foregone conclusion.

Morning all....

I wouldn't get to excited my friends.

Things are not all done and dusted

Anyway

More on that tomorrow anbd the coming weeks.

As I understand it the players and management are not very happy about the promises the board failed to keep therefore expect a lot of comings and goings however something might happen topday that will change all of this.

Watch this space...............
