MORE NEWS!! At last!! [2]

AFF

Recommended Posts

While queuing to collect my copy of Railway Modellers Gazette at the newsagent, I glanced at the back page of the Observer.

Steve Castle is to return from holiday today, Thursday. [No that's not the news, that's the introduction.]

He is expected to pursue his interest in the Bedford trio, Sarll, Hildygarde and Roberts, and continue his negotiations to secure the services of Deacon, Seeby and George Clark upon his return.

That's it.

.....obviously not, Sun.

I'm sure it will all be all right and we shouldn't start to panic just yet but at the moment we have Castle, Thomas, De Souza, Smith and me. Rather than the Conference South or the Capital League, we could enter the 5-a-side League that plays in Harpenden on a Monday evening.

I have a hunch that Deacon, Seeby and Clark are holding out for Ferrari Maranello's rather than the 355s.

I wonder if they have an agent?

The 50/1 odds offered on the Mighty Saints against winning the title next season, the joint longest odds with Dorchester and Eastbourne, would suggest that a few more than you two and I are more than a little concerned at our prospects in the season to come, chaps!

I'm guessing that, being a former Youth player and reserve starlet, 'Deacs' won't have been on that much money last season, even though he played a significant number of games, and started off the 5-4 rout of Bedford which marked the fantastic end to a successful season for the Mighty Saints.

As someone wrote on this here board a few weeks back...

'Pay him what he deserves...'

Or perhaps sentiments such as the above need to be posted on the new and official forum?

It's going to be interesting, next season.

Hi Rob.

Steve Castle is back on Monday?!?

But it said in the St Albans Observer that he was back yesterday, Thursday. That chap that ghost writes the stuff for the Chairman and the Manager in the matchday programme and the local press is seriously slipping up.

Hi Monkey Boy.

I don't know anything about football and I'm no Statto but I can tell you that Greg Deacon played 42 games for the 1st team last season scoring 3 goals and received 2 yellow cards. Chris Seeby played 38 times, scoring once and, angel that he is, received just the 1 yellow card.
