Leberl & Baptiste...

Word on the street is that Ford @ Gravesend is after both Leberl and Baptiste. He reckons he'll sign and seal the Leberl deal later this week and Baptiste once he returns from holiday. I feel for you Margate boys...Ford at Gravesend is well and truely raping your squad and taking advantage of the clubs drop in status/league. Kinnear must be doing his nut...first Jay, then Porter, now Leberl and Baptiste. I feel the finance situation, along with lower league status is really kicking in now and MFc will have a very different an slightly cheaper squad to last year now.

Some very significant Gate players havent left yet though

Smith

Oates

Annon

Clarke

to name a few, surely theres only so many player gravesend can sign from us!

Kudos to them though, if it were they going down, id expect us to take on some of there better players

I'm not convinced that"raping our squad" is entirely fair on Andy Ford. If the players in question saw a long term future at 'Git they would no doubt stay.

It is purely good management by Gravesend. Those players are conference standard and wish to remain at that level.

At Margit, through no fault of the manager or players you now have 4 or 5 years of rebuilding (on playing side, ground and fanbase)before you can realistically hope to regain your conference place.

I honestly wish you well, but expect a long haul back, not promotion next year with a brand new team and crowds of 500.

[color:"blue"]Yes, some people seem to have forgotten that a couple of seasons ago we raided Dover & got Leberl, Smith and Shearer when they got relegated.

Chatham Gary is absolutely right. Much as it hurts to see those players go it is down to the facts of life.

What is really needed is for all Margate supporters to get behind the Management and players and give them the support that will get Margate back to the level that we have enjoyed for the last few years.

Sad to see it happen but has to be expected. MFC can't afford the contracts, players want to play football at the highest standard they can, loyalty is a luxury that is not an option for many. At least they aren't going far so can easily come back........

It will be reassuring to see a few signings to know we will have a team next year, and maybe we will be raping and pillaging Dover again, which will also just be facts of life (or at least football)

Perhaps we can get them back on loan!!

Equally it may all change in another 12 months and they will come flooding back, since if Gravesend go full time, some of our ex-players may have other jobs whereby it is not financially beneficial to them to go full time.

Equally , whilst it currently is painful for margate fans, we may just stay solvent and others be under extreme financial pressure next year .

As conference clubs endeavout to 'keep up with the Jones'a few more may 'do a Telford' during the season.

Simple things like petrol prices for conference travel may cripple a few .Again i hate to admit it, but we may just be better off .

Got to say Gravesend wil have a mighty fine squad and i anticipate them making the play-offs

Whilst the original hope was full-time in 12 months..... the reality is that currently the club doesn't expect fulltime football until 2006/07 season at the earliest.

As ANGRY as i am at loosing players to the other lot,i say good luck to them. Let them enjoy there perceived status as Kents number one non league club. I hope the mercenary ones jumping ship wont regret it,and the grave ones wont be to disapointed when we take back that position. The let go list is full of good players wanting a game. come on the Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate there is life after the QUITTERS.

Think you are a bit harsh BB.

I'm equally disappointed, but we all change jobs for money, status etc.

Its not the players fault, and they were loyal from the off field mess of 2002/3 season through to the off field mess of 2003/4.

We got a few happy days, they got us to 16th in difficult circumstances, tried until the last but one game

many thanks, best wishes and for now i'll have faith in CK to replace with better

Meant to add that i see Kevin Hales has gone to join Garry Hill at Hornchuch.

Now that is possibly a case of chasing the dollar and disloyalty.

You never know the cicumstances and clauses in his contract, but one assumes that Erith are a tag unimpressed!!!

I'm totally with Michael on this one. Breaks my heart to see any player go but do not begrudge any of them seeking to maintain or advance their position.

They did not deserve the mess we got in off the pitch.

I hope they all go on to find success and the appreciation from their new fans that they truly deserve.

And I also trust to CK to rebuild another team for us to be as proud of as I was of the one I saw play so well in the season just gone.
