Sharing at Ashford

I believe Ashford is a good alternative to Dover. The games we played there last year were well recieved and the staff at the club very friendly. The catering was good and it will be a lot cheaper to rent than Dover. It is not much further to travel, and another plus is that it is easier and closer for away supporters. I think if we can get the same support as last season it will make foe a good atmosphere and we may be able to pick up a few ashford supporters.

[color:"blue"]Sorry SteveL .. think you're wrong with a couple of points - Ashford is a good hours drive away - whereas Dover is 35-40 minutes getting through Canterbury on a Saturday will be a nightmare, so you'd have to go 'around the houses' to get there. Also I'd doubt we'd get more than 150 there.

Having said that, hopefully we'll be HOME before the end of the year - so it'd only be a short term thing anyway. (perhaps we could try and reverse as many home games as possible until HDP is ready!)

What are our other options, if any, on grounds locally apart from ashford and dover. The conference south regulations are less than for the conference but does anyone know exactly what these regs are so that we can think of other grounds that may be suitable.I too dislike ashfords ground and the extra mileage also puts me off, though would always do my best to get there, having said that.

I dont know why the hell the club doesnt try to get in at Herne Bay!!There is a lot of support amongst fans in favour of it It is a mnice ground ,up to date facilities for the crowds we are likely to get >when herne Bay played A.F.C.Wimbledon in theF.A.Vase last season they had a crowd of almost 2000 .A great atmosphere in a smaller ground .With the crowds we are likely ro get and only apparenttley for a short time this would be ideal!!!!!

Trouble is gate fan that the club were trying to get back to hartsdown over a year ago and its still apile of rubble. I agree Herne bay would be nice. It does flood easily thiough but we recruit a lot of fans from there anyway. The thing is does it have enough seats or other musts, I fear not cos if that is good enough my guess is Southwood would be and i think not. The ground progress is paramount.

I feel for you guys on the issue of travel to Ashford versus Dover. But given the club's plight I rate the facilities at Homelands. Dover loks out now given Dover Ladies are playing at Crabble, and while Folkestone is closer than Ashford the pitch at Cheriton Road has to be one of the worse at that level. Even allowing for some of the pics of grounds we will be visitng next year I would doubt that Herne Bay would be able to stage the equivalent of Doc Martens Premier games which does leave Ashford. And to be perfectly honest, Homelands would cut 20 mins off my journey time to all home games from West Kent!

But having said all that, oohhh to be back at Harstdown Park!
