its an interesting situation U because Danny is under contract to us for another year but there is some sort of FA ruling on young players that allows them the right to leave for a bigger club or something....

 

but here is the twist...

 

'at market valuation'....

 

now I know that we have already had an offer for Danny from a second division club so if he does decide to leave us for pastures new...where ever he goes to will have to match the offer....which I can tell you now will be a non league record... <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

 

so we'll see...bit disappointed as Danny hasn't even contacted us but nontheless...he's an Urchin player and he'll be there on the 1st July....or else we'll have a big fat cheque off someone.... <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

 

problem is...he won't have exactly endeared himself to Hillsy will he so might well be doing it all wrong.... <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

....but then, look at it from Danny's POV.

 

Ashley Bayes has been brought in....so who's wearing the #1 jersey next season?

 

After last season's performance - with a great defence in front of him - Danny surely wouldn't want to be understudy to Bayes....and I doubt AB would've moved to us if he was to be 2nd choice keeper.

 

I take it West Ham have shown no further interest in signing DG?

It's a fair point about Ashley and Danny competing for the Number One Jersey but Danny still should be letting the club know about any concearns he has and what he has decided to do ?

 

I gotta say i admire Hillsy in this situation, don't quite know if i could be as patient with Danny as he has been.

fair comment Mal but Danny is under contract...he doesn't have the right to demand the No 1 jersey anymore than assurances were given to Ashley that he'd have it...

 

not good and a perfect example of a player being led in the wrong direction by an agent....

 

either way Danny will be an Urchin player next season or someone will have parted with a substantial cheque.... <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

don't agree bridgey.....danny had a good season last year but a new manager may well have his own ideas on what he wants and doesn't want.....from all positions...

 

no guarantees are given to any player in terms of a guaranteed position at any level...

 

as for danny going missing....well wouldn't quite put it that way.....maybe you have missed my earlier post but danny is contracted to Hx and can only leave if the required terms are offered to us....those terms would have to match the offer already received for danny...

 

he will be there like it or not for pre-season training and my view is that he hasn't helped his position by not communicating with the club....several unreturned telephone calls have been made to both player and agent...

 

no player is bigger than the club and thats unfortunately a fact....with the release of young mcartney back to millwall we needed another goalkeeper and we've signed one.....

 

danny and his agent should surely understand that....

 

there is of course another view that could be construed.....danny has had a good season and his agent uses that to try and springboard him into a bigger club for more money.....plus the spin off from a transfer fee which by non league standards would be large...now if that is the case...(and I'm not saying it is)...then you could say that danny hasn't shown the loyalty that he declared when he was quite happy to sign a 2 year contract on bloody good full time wages...(I'll warrant that he was the highest paid keeper in non league football last year...)

 

lets not assume anything anyway.....danny may well be in goal for the opening game of the new season....he certainly will be a Hx player unless GH decides to let him go...

don't get me wrong bridgy...like you guys me and the rest of the guys at the club want to keep danny.....

 

just can't help feeling that he's been hawked around the game by his agent with a view to getting a bigger club and perhaps more money.....can't blame the lad for that either as he is free to do that as long as Hx are paid the right fee.....

 

just feel that it could have been handled a bit better is all.....

 

its a mercenary old game is it not....

Nothing new there Unc...Things will never change when it comes to Agents. The only point I don't understand is that if we have an offer on the table for him why hasn't he gone. If his name is being passed about then surely he is looking for a move!

 

...but then again I understand your situation that you want i a decent fee for him...just gets bloody complicated....poxy agents.

truth is we dont want him to go...he's been made a good offer and we really do want him to stay....

 

what can you do....if they're orf they're orf...nowt we can do but ensure that the club are looked after and a good fee is obtained....

 

you guys know that I would never sell a good player with a future at Hx unless it really was in the players interests and a big club from the top divisions..

 

of course until he rings us and tells us what he's up too we are as much in the dark as you guys are... <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
