Blast from the EFC past

Recommended Posts

Those ETFC supporters with long memories may be interested to know that the fourth official at White Notley FC this afternoon (Denny King Memorial Cup Final) was one John Ackred who, according to his pen pic in the programme, was in the EFC squad for the 1967 Amateur Cup Final and was still playing for EFC when he began his refereeing career.

No first team appearances for this person. In the 1966/7 season EFC used a lot of reserves due to fixture congestion, and none of them was John Ackred. This is not an uncommon occurrence - many people have claimed to have played for Enfield (mostly in bars around closing time admittedly) who rapidly downgrade their stories to "only the reserves/youth team" when confronted by saddos like Jim and me!

Absolutely nothing you [****!!****].

It just so happens that Father Jack and I have comprehensive records concerning EFC before the split and for years I did the job for them that I now do for ETFC.

I do not have a problem with those who stayed at EFC, have answered questions on matters of EFC and only get wound up by complete tossers like yourself. So there.

It's similar to AFC Dons fans assimilating this season's scoring records with something that happened to the OTHER club pre-franchise days. You, like them are a different club because you chose to be, therefore no comparisons as in club records can be made. Geddit?

No,if you read our history you will see we claim its roots started with the sale of Southbury Road, that bunch from south london claim to be the dons even though they were formed as a result when the REAL dons left London and they wanted to take a team home, something they have STILL failed to do.

Well if they cannot get back to Merton then I suppose Norbiton is a far better bet than MK. You guys are happy to be playing Brimsdown pro temps, no? I'd be happy if Romford played out of the Borough (well not far out) as long as we had a ground and our own bar.

Concidering some of our fans were EFC fans around the time it was claimed that this ref played for the club....I think they are more than justified in passing comment.

And to Abbeynut....Just because we formed ETFC [THREE] years ago, dosn't mean we are going to forget or deny (or want to deny) that we were EFC fans for many years before that......I supported ENFIELD for 20 years up until 2001 ,and i've supported ENFIELD since 2001 (anything else is just politics)

I am not trying to claim EFC history, records or anything. I am just pointing out that this guy never played for EFC's first team. Where is your problem? (Not you LS obviously - but Baccy and Abbeyarse)

Jim, you don't have to keep justyfying yourself. ETFC supporters know the supporters who came across from the old club with years of loyal support. I don't bother with people like Abbeynut who likes to stir things up, and I or any other ETFC supporter can draw the line at Enfield past and Enfield Town future. I suppose his next comment will be about a merger. That's when he goes from being an annoyance to a stand up comedian.

Read the postings again. No comparisons are being made. I repeat - no comparisons are being made. Geddit?

Rather than being the god of wine, backarse is too busy drinking the stuff to make any sense or to be of ANY importance.
